Welcome to Winging it in Motown
Welcome to the third hockey blog of the SB Nation family, Winging it in Motown! Die by the Blade (Buffalo Sabres) and Mile Hile Hockey (Colorado Avalanche) were the first two hockey blogs on SB Nation and I'm pleased to be the newest member of the family.

My name is Christy Hammond and I've been blogging about the Detroit Red Wings since late 2004 on my blog, Behind the Jersey. I grew up cheering for the Red Wings with my father and have been a lifelong fan. I'm currently a student at the University of Michigan where I'm double majoring in Sport Management and Communication Studies. I hope to eventually work for a public or community relations department for a professional sports team (ideally an NHL team). I am actually a Red Wings public relations intern for the 2007-2008 season.
Winging it in Motown will be a hockey blog focused on the latest Red Wings news and games with further analysis and opinion regarding these topics. I will cover any interesting NHL news, but the majority of the posts will feature Red Wings stories. Since I am a Sport Management major, you will see me highlight business decisions made by the league itself and even other NHL teams.
If you have any questions for me, I'd be happy to answer them in the comments or via email!

I love the Wings
I found this site awhile ago and I have been waiting for a Wings blog. I have my own as well.
Re: Welcome
Welcome to the SB Nation hockey family, Christy! It's good to have you on board, even if you do root for the wrong team. We can't all be perfect.
All that aside, consider me a dedicated reader!

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome Joe! It might kill me to say this, but I do enjoy reading MHH and DLS. Good luck trying to make the playoffs this year. ;) Yes, I believe your Avs will do it this year, but I'd by lying if I didn't say that I enjoyed watching them fail to make the postseason.
Re:
I seem to remember a full decade of the Wings sucking in the 80s. How many times did they miss the playoffs then, like 8? The Avs missing the playoffs once in 11 seasons was a blip on the radar---it had to happen some time.
They'll have no trouble returning to their proper place atop the Western Conference.
All that aside, keep up the excellent blogging. It can be tough to pull double duty on two blogs at once, but if I can do it, I know you can, too. Good luck.

Welcome!
Not a big fan of the Wings since I'm an Avs fan, but I'll be a dedicated reader just like Joe.
