[Game Thread] Wings vs. Ducks
Detroit resumes their 10 day, five game road trip tonight in Anaheim at 10pm. Both teams are coming in on winning streaks. The Ducks have won four straight games on the road, while the Wings come into tonight's game with a five-game winning streak.
The Wings hope to play a complete game tonight and stay out of the penalty box. Johan Franzen remains out with a knee injury. Chris Osgood should get the start in net.
Feel free to stop by and leave a comment during tonight's game! If you don't see as many comments from me, it is because my TV at home would not let me enter 3 digits and I was unable to watch the game.
Please note that the game will not be on FSN Detroit (I believe it's because of the Detroit Pistons season opener), but it will be on FSN Plus. Below are the designated channels for FSN Plus tonight:

I finally found the game...
I had some technical difficulties so I finally was able to view the game with eight minutes left in the second period.
I was in the car during the first period so I listed to Ken Kal and Paul Woods call the game. However when I got back to my place, I couldn’t get the game on TV (my TV set won’t let me enter 901 for the Comcast channel) so I tried searching for the radio stream on the 97.1 website and then the NHL. With the new NHL website design, I wasn’t able to find the Wings radio (only Anaheim) so I kept searching. Thanks to a message thread on Lets Go Wings forum, I found a website streaming the FSN Plus coverage so I am finally watching the game. Yay!
With eight power plays alone in the first period, it came as no surprise to see both Anaheim and Detroit notch power play goals. The Ducks came on a 5-on-3 power play while Detroit just had the man advantage.
Pavel Datsyuk scored and Marian Hossa assisted on both goals. Nick Lidstrom and Tomas Holmstrom each have an assist.
Anaheim’s only goal thus far was a slap shot by Teemu Selanne and assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Chris Pronger (ugh).

Another one!
Henrik Zetterberg scored to give the Wings a two-goal lead. As the previous two Detroit goals, they used the same stick on ice deflection to put the puck past JS Giguere.

5-on-3 Ducks goal
Anaheim scores another 5-on-3 power play goal when Getzlaf made a pass to Selanne who shot and the puck went off Wings defenseman Andreas Lilja and behind Chris Osgood. Bummer.

Selanne hat trick
Selanne earns his 21st career hat trick with a goal just 4:50 into the third to tie the game up.

Octopi!
This marks the second straight road game that an octopus has found its way onto the opponent’s home ice.
Nice work Wings fans!

Brian Sutherby scores to give Ducks lead
With just 7:04 remaining in the game, Perry passed to Sutherby from behind the net and Sutherby put it in the net above Osgood’s glove. It was his third goal this season.

Two more octopi!
Man, the Wings fans are out in full force tonight – 4 octopi in one road game!

Wooo!
The Wings have done it again – Dan Cleary scooped the puck from behind the net and pushed it towards the crease where Zetterberg popped it in.
While I obviously wanted the Wings to tie it up, these late nights are killing me! It’s 12:41am and I have to be up by 6am. Yuck.

Another OT.
The Wings head to overtime for their third consecutive game of this five game road trip. The previous two games resulted in a Wings win in the shootout.

Beauchemin pokes it in
Getzlaf throws the puck at the net and it bounces high into the air, upon which Beauchemin pokes the puck into the net. The goal was reviewed because his stick seemed awfully high. Based on the replay, I would say that it was a high stick and the goal should not have counted. However, the Wings had a delayed penalty coming to them so Detroit may have lost anyways.
Still, it was certainly an unpleasant way to lose. At least we got a point by making it to OT.
