[Game Thread] Wings vs. Sharks
Tonight is a big road game for Detroit. The San Jose Sharks are currently undefeated at home and present the Wings biggest challenge to the Stanley Cup Finals this season.
To make this match up even more interesting, former Wings assistant coach Todd McClellan is now the head coach with the Sharks and he even took our ex-video coach, Jay Woodcroft, as well. Woody is now their assistant head coach so he also got promoted. While we were all happy to see McClellan get promoted, I can't say I'm happy that he's only going to make the Sharks better. Why couldn't it have been the Kings instead? Ok, that was mean. I'm sorry.
The game begins at 10:30pm tonight and will be shown on FSN Detroit. Please stop by to talk about the game!

Tired.
Anyone else tired of these late night games? I’m getting sick from getting so little sleep this week!
Reminder about NHL GameCenter
Don’t forget, NHL GameCenter is free tonight so you can catch any NHL game on NHL.com streaming live for free as long as it isn’t locally blacked out. From what I have seen so far, it’s pretty cool!
Man.
The Wings aren’t looking so hot. It feels like Detroit is on a penalty kill, yet it’s even strength.
Game scoreless at the end of the first period.
Ty Conklin has had to make some key saves to keep the Sharks off the scoreboard.
Wings now up 1-0.
Marian Hossa notched his sixth goal of the season and his 15th point. After a sluggish first, his goal gives Detroit a much needed boost with 13:40 left in the second.
Marleau scores
The Sharks tie it up when Joe Thornton made a pass from behind the net and captain Patrick Marleau takes the quick shot. He leads his team with six goals this season.
Sharks take the lead...
Crap. Despite Ty Conklin trying to keep his skate/pad up against the post, James McGinn kept pounding at it and was able to push it in.
And then Marian Hossa gets a penalty almost right after that. We do not need that right about now.
3:25
3:25 is all it took for the Sharks to make a statement and go from down a goal to earning a two-goal lead.
FYI
According to FSN Detroit, Patrick Marleau can get out of his gear in a team-best 45 seconds. I love the random stats that FSN picks out throughout the game…
Another Sharks goal...
A slapshot by Pavelski just 6:08 into the third period gives San Jose a three-goal lead. Not looking good for Detroit.
Rafalski makes it 4-2
With just 32 seconds left, Brian Rafalski comes down from the point and scores on a nice give and go from Tomas Kopecky.
