[Game Thread] Wings vs. Maple Leafs
The Detroit Red Wings start their season tonight at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Just to help eliminate confusion and remind fans attending tonight's game, the banner ceremony will begin at 7pm according to the Red Wings PR department. The puck will drop at the conclusion of the ceremony.
The Detroit Red Wings remind fans to arrive early this Thursday, October 9th for the Red Wings' home opener versus the Toronto Maple Leafs at Joe Louis Arena. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and fans are asked to be in their seats promptly by 7:00 p.m. for the special on-ice Opening Night presentation and Stanley Cup Champion banner raising.
Expect the crowd to be loud as they celebrate their 2007-2008 Stanley Cup champs, but let's hope the team focuses on the game at hand once the puck drops. No offense to Maple Leafs fans, but losing to Toronto would not be a nice finish to the night.
Be sure to visit fellow SBN bloggers over at PPP for the view from Toronto.
I will be at the Joe myself so I won't be able to leave comments throughout the game, but please feel free to leave your ceremony and game thoughts below!

As usual, Versus does the classy thing and talks over the anthems.

Helpful hint to Osgood...
Don’t pass the puck to the other color sweater.

Thanks!
Thanks for the few that left comments! Bummer that the Wings lost and we saw our share of dumb mistakes, but the banner ceremony was fun and I’m sooo happy to have hockey back!
