[Game Thread] Wings vs. Oilers
For a second straight game, the Detroit Red Wings (12-2-3) take on the Edmonton Oilers (9-8-2) after winning on Monday night, 4-1. The Wings are currently on a three-game winning streak and hope to start off their Western Canada road trip on a strong note.
Dan Cleary and Chris Chelios did not make the road trip and will not play. The goaltender starting the game has not be released, but I'm guessing it will be Chris Osgood since backup goalie Ty Conklin started the past two straight games.
The game starts at 9pm and I will be here commenting away during the action so please stop by!

Hudler scores!
Jiri Hudler scores to give Detroit the lead just 1:50 into the game! It marks Hudler’s fifth goal of the season. Interestingly enough, Andreas Lilja and Brett Lebda got the assists.
Is it me or does the FSN Detroit angle and lights give the game a more old-time feel?
Uh oh.
FSN play-by-play Ken Daniels reports that Tomas Holmstrom is not out on the ice due to back spasms.
In addition, Niklas Kronwall is out after suffering a lower-body injury on Monday night. Derek Meech is in the lineup tonight. Kronner was just starting to find his rhythm and as the WIM favorite, I’m quite bummed that he’s injured. Hopefully it isn’t serious.
Kopecky scores PP goal!
Kopecky was screening Roloson like Homer usually does and Pavel Datsyuk’s shot deflected off of him and into the net for Kopecky’s first goal of the season.
Quick PPG!
Just six seconds into the power play, Nicklas Lidstrom takes a shot from the point and Kopecky deflects the puck once again past Roloson.
Kopecky has had quite a period scoring his only two goals of the season and this will hopefully boost his confidence and getting him going offensively even if he’s on the third or fourth line.
Hudler also gets his second goal of the night!
The Wings respond with another Hudler goal. Derek Meech took a slapshot from the point that went off the glass behind the net and he promptly put it in for another Detroit PPG goal.
Oilers score.
Visnovsky beat Chris Osgood above to pull the Oilers within two. The goal came 4-on-4.
Right after the goal, Filppula takes a penalty to give the Oilers a man-advantage. We do not want to just give them a chance to come back.
Uggggh.
With 6:35 to play, the Oilers score again with a Sheldon Souray goal. The Wings look to be spiraling into that evil cycle of penalties to give the opponent a chance to come back. Hopefully the Wings will buckle down and maintain that lead.
