[Game Thread] Wings vs. Coyotes
Detroit takes on Wayne Gretzky's Phoenix Coyotes later tonight. The Wings hope to get back on track after suffering a 3-1 loss last night to the Dallas Stars.
Tonight, the Coyotes will try to match a season best three-game winning streak back on Nov. 8-12. Recently, the Coyotes haven't done so well against the Wings losing the last eight straight games since Phoenix won at the Joe back on March 7, 2006. Detroit outscored the Coyotes 37-14 in those eight wins.
We don't know who will get the start in net tonight. Ty Conklin has started the last three games and has never faced Phoenix. Chris Osgood is 13-13-0 against the Coyotes. Defenseman Chris Chelios may also be inserted into the line-up after missing all of the regular season due to a broken tibia. Head coach Mike Babcock has not yet decided if he will get to play tonight, but physically he's healthy and ready to go.
I am personally looking forward to this game as a chance to see University of Michigan alum Kevin Porter with his new team. Last season, Porter led the Wolverines in scoring (goals and points) and won the Hobey Baker Memorial Award.
The game starts at 9pm and will be shown on FS Detroit Plus. You can check out the cable listings below:

Jiri Hudler...our underrated MVP
Definitely.
It would nice to go .500 this road trip. And as I write this, Shane Doan scores on a nice deke to give the Coyotes a 2-1 lead in the 2nd period.
The Mule does it again!
Johan Franzen scores his 12th goal o the season on a beautiful breakaway shot to tie it up while shorthanded.
The goal came at a great time when the Coyotes were really bringing it and peppering Ozzie with plenty of shots.
PPG!
Brian Rafalski takes a hard shot from the right point to get Detroit the lead courtesy of a PPG.
Tomas Holmstrom may have tipped that in though.
yeaaa holmstrom up front doin his usual
6th PP goal for him this yr i think

First goal
since returning from back spasms. I think he was getting anxious about it so it’s good to see him finally score!
Can we please put this game away
and not have to hang on to another 1 goal win lol

Mike Babcock on Hank:
I think he’s the best two-way player in the league.
To watch that [shootout] goal, it’s pretty impressive.
