[Game Thread] Wings vs. Avs
After going 1-1-0 on their two-game road trip this past weekend, the Detroit Red Wings (20-5-4) take on their old rival, the Colorado Avalanche (14-14-1) at home.
The Avs have been going through a bit of a rough patch this season including the unfortunate news that captain Joe Sakic will miss at least three months after suffering three broken fingers courtesy of a snowblower. The Avs currently sit in 12th place in the Western Conference standings, but only have two points less than the eighth seeded team (Minnesota Wild).
Chris Osgood will get the start in net for Detroit after Saturday's 5-4 shootout win in Phoenix. While his statistics have most certainly not been ideal, Ozzie only has one loss in regulation this season. In fact, he has started 17 games this team where the team got at least one point in the contest.
You can bet that the Avs really want to win this game coming off a 4-3 loss at home to Chicago and considering the Wings have won the last eight straight meetings between the two teams (the last four regular season games and a sweep in the Western Conference semifinals).
I will be at the game so I will be unable to leave any comments during the game, but please feel free to talk about the action in the comment section and I will be sure to respond as soon as I return home.
The game starts at 7pm and will be shown on Versus. You can visit Mile High Hockey, a fellow SBN blog, for the perspective of the game from the Avs' side. Go Wings!

Think the Wings chase Khabibulin?
As a solution for the goaltending issues?

don't have goaltendin issues
defense has lapses where they play bad and give away the puck too much…2 neutral ice turnovers tonight have led to both goals so far…can’t fault Ozzie on either of them

Why? According to the clowns at A2Y, Osmediocre is HoF material.

Thanks. Too bad the Rocks dream season was just a flash. Now they are back to being quadruple A. I’m a CO sports homer through and through, but not much of a baseball fan.

The best thing is
that when they have horrible seasons, they have nowhere to go but up, so there’s always a healty dose of optimism.
Colorado Avalanche: Gellin' and Propellin'!!!
yea it'd be nice if
we can stay more healthy this year…hopefully pick up another starter before the season starts n let the kids continue to develop

At least we’re in the NL. Some of those AL teams would baby seal the Rockies and laugh while doing it.
Colorado Avalanche: Gellin' and Propellin'!!!
yup
big ups to being in the mediocre NL

Oh boy....
I’m not going to pretend I know anything about the Rockies and stay out of this part of the thread..
Bwa-ha-ha
Our fiendish plan to have Rayzor flop around like he didn’t have a clue worked like a charm.
That is all.
Colorado Avalanche: Gellin' and Propellin'!!!
Haha.
You guys did it. I was amused reading the pre-game thread for this game at MHH and everyone sounded like a win was almost impossible. As I read it, I totally could see the Avs winning. Funny how that works.
At least it was only a one goal difference, but I am sure tired of Red Wing goalies allowing a goal on the opponent’s first shot of the game. Not how I want to start games…
nope 4 times in the last 9 games i think
it would help if we didn’t turn it over

But they’ve got TheRick signed through Hillary Clinton’s presidency. That has to be a good thing, right? Right?
