Red Wings get their 2008 Stanley Cup rings

On Sunday night, the Red Wings received their 2008 Stanley Cup rings in a private ceremony. While the '97, '98, and '02 rings were yellow gold, the '08 ones are white gold with plenty of diamonds on it.

How gorgeous is that bad boy? Man!

WIM favorite defenseman Niklas Kronwall was quite impressed with his first ring:

"It’s huge, just huge," defenseman Niklas Kronwall said. "I’ve never seen anything like it. It was a really cool feeling to get it, actually." Asked what he was going to do with it – it’s not exactly for day-to-day wear – Kronwall hesitated. "I thought about it last night," he said. "Where do you keep it? Probably find a vault or something, I don’t know. I’ll talk to the other guys and see what they’ve done in the past."

Here's a video clip of Nicklas Lidstrom and Kris Draper talking about their new rings:

While we would all love to get our hands on one of those gorgeous rings, everyone in attendance for Wednesday's game will get a commemorative ring. It obviously isn't as nice as the real deal, I've personally seen one and I was really impressed with the quality of the giveaway courtesy of Ticketmaster.
