[Game Thread] Red Wings vs. Vancouver
The Red Wings continue their three-games-in-four-nights run with a matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. Last night the Red Wings blew out the Columbus Blue Jackets 9-1, with their first nine-goal team performance in two years. Niklas Kronwell had two goals and an assist, while Jimmy Howard made 25 saves
The Canucks come in having lost to the St. Louis Blues 6-1 on Tuesday night. They come into Joe Louis Arena to play the fourth of a five-game road trip. Henrik Sedin scored the lone Vancouver goal that night. His nine goals give him the team lead and puts him in a tie for 11th in the NHL. The Cancucks hold the fourth best power play in the NHL, with a 24% conversion rate.
Detroit won the previous meeting between these two teams 5-4 on October 27. Pavel Datsuyk (who scored last night) had two goals that night.
The game is on FS Detroit in the US and on Canucks PPV in Vancouver. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 ET. I'll be chatting along below. Please join me!

That's the kind of stuff I pulled in D-II
Won’t work in this league, kiddo.

Brad May and Rick Rypein Fight
May with some strong shots…Rypine pulls the jersey over the head, and throws punches. HA! now they’re showing May teaching Abdelkader how to fight!
He has poor timing
Like dropping the gloves while up 2-0 yesterday.

Okay, I know no one can see this because it's a local spot to me...
…there’s a spot for some booze shop near me, and the open talks about using sexy women to sell liquor. “And we’ve got ’em!” And then they cut to these three women who are only attractive in that “15 minutes before last call and six drinks later” kind of way. As if no one had the heart to tell anyone “you know these women aren’t attractive.”

Zetterberg set him up beautifully, and he was camped out in front taking a bunch of physical abuse but still put it between Luongo’s pads!
crazy looking goal that must of been

15 shots is inexcusable.
That said, I feel like they’re allowing the Canucks to take shots, but are clearing the rebounds a bit better than they have all season (minus last night, when they were also very good).
There are definitely more turnovers in the defensive zone and at the blueline, though.

if Stuart leaves him alone,
that’s not a goal. Oh well, shows sometimes even when you do your job you get the shaft
VAN GOAL: Raymond PP (8) (Bieska, Kesler) 6:38
A Bieska shot that’s deflected off someone, then banks off Raymond without knowing it, and goes into the net.
Eaves leaves after sliding into the boards...
…lost the edge, then lost his balance and went feet first.
Looked uncomfortable.
But up and then to the room on his own power, which is encouraging.

the hockey stick logo for the ’Nucks is supposed to be a “C” ???!? How did i never see that?

Kesler and Zetterberg were pushing each other behind the net
The two of them went back with their sticks tied up. Nothing but discussions.
Burrows and May are unhappy...
there’s some pushing…but no call. One of the Wings (Zetterberg, I think) was defending Pavel’s honor.
"The puck took a strange bounce off a stantion," Daniels said...
…at Joe Louis? Really? Are you sure?

What’s up boys? What happened in Columbus last night, way too put the foot in the very large mouth of Hitchcock as I will guarantee you that he’ll never utter the words “I want to make them bleed” ever again. Leaves Mason in for 8?
Goal by Zetterburgh looked exactly like Barker’s goal last night on Anderson. Pretty sweet I must say.

I’ll go one better: this is a turning point game. This is the kind of game that makes people take notice and go, “I think he’s ready for more.”
i'll agree
Form wise, he’s much better than Osgood but just has some issues following the puck. Only way you can get better at that is full speed games so why not give him time?
