Detroit Red Wings at Nashville Predators, Nov 23, 2009 6:00 PM CST
The Detroit Red Wings continue their road trip in Nashville as they take on the Predators tonight at 7 p.m. EDT on Versus. The Wings hope to extend their winning streak to two on the road, while the Preds would like to make it six straight wins.
With top-four defenseman Niklas Kronwall out for at least four weeks due to a hit that GM Ken Holland called dirty, the Wings will mix and match their defensive pairings tonight. Derek Meech will enter the lineup tonight thanks to the void left by the Kronwall injury.
Chris Osgood will start in goal tonight with Jimmy Howard slated to start on Wednesday.
You will also want to keep an eye out for Darren McCarty, who will be a guest studio analyst for Versus tonight. Will he be a homer like Kris Draper is wishing for? Will he offer some great insight into how the Wings operate?

WELCOME BACK MAC ATTACK!!!
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I sure am looking forward to seeing the major broadcast debut of Darren THE MAN McCarty!!! He is, was and always will be one of my favorite players… a true Detroit super story. Maybe he can offer some insight on why nobody wrecked Lacrap for that BULLSH*T of a cheap shot the other night on our beloved Kronwall!!
I know that’s not our style exactly but some exceptions HAVE to be made. Isn’t that part of the reason we got Bert and May?? Atleast we got ‘em back the Detroit way… with a couple in the back of the net. I’m sure somebody has his number regardless, maybe even Kroner himself, haha, get well soon brother!! Anyways, I’m sure ol’ Mac will do great tonight, he’s most definitely got personality (to say the least). Anything is better than what’s his face that was on versus last week. Hopefully Draper is right and Mac homer’s it all the way but not to the point where we won’t see more of him.
Will Lacrap get the ol’ Claude Lemieux treatment? Will the league do the right thing?
Most likely not… but atleast I sleep better at night knowing that Darren McCarty is still involved with the Detroit Red Wings and the game of hockey in general.

Jimmy Howard
He seems to be more comfortable in net these days. He’s done a real good job filling for Oz zy when he was down with the flu. Hopefully, Ozzy can step up his game more. I feel like he’s not up to that level where we expect him to be and I’m sure he’s aware of that as well.

That Todd Bertuzzi has created more offense for the opposition than he has for the Wings?
But yes, I echo everyone’s thoughts… terrible breakdown defensively, but a fairly good play offensively for the Preds.

I've noticed as well.
Thing is…it works. They’ve been directing 70-80 shots toward the net every game. I’ll take that over stickhandling and praying for chances throughout. They don’t ask how – they ask how many. Unless Mickey Redmond is saying that… HA

I gotta say all 3 penalties have been weak. Preds got an interference call against for holding up the guy with the puck but not for holding up a guy without the puck while shorthanded. The calls against the Red Wings at least made some sense.

I don’t think he should even be on the team. There’s nothing special about his game at all. This isn’t the 2000-01 version. If you put me on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom, I PROMISE you I’d have more than three goals after 21 games.

If the refs are going to call random things, whether imagined or real, they should at least call all of the “real” penalties (e.g., tapping someone on the back with a stick: crosscheck; on the hand: slash). Otherwise, they shouldn’t call a penalty when someone trips over his feet. Or at least call it tripping and claim there was a stick where it wasn’t. Come on…

That was some incompetence by the refs that game, not that any of it mattered. Unless you want to mention that the Red Wings lost by two power play goals on their two extra penalties, but you won’t win many games with one goal.
Seriously though, what happened to the Red Wings? Sure, they’ve lost a lot of goal scorers, but they haven’t lost enough that they can’t get more than 1-2 goals per game.
At least Miller ended the even strength drought.
