Time:

7:30 p.m. ET

TV: FS-Detroit

Last time these two teams met, Henrik Zetterberg netted 3 goals en route to a 7-4 Red Wings win. Zetterberg's three gave not only everyone free curly fries but the Red Wings their third straight victory. But that was then, this is now. Detroit's cooled off from its short hot streak and encountered even more injuries. Forward Dan Cleary is out of tonight's game following a separated shoulder and the Wings are starting all available players.

The Wings could use a win tonight against the West's worst team and a win would vault them over idle Columbus for third in the division. But then again, nothing is certain when you take on Ryan Getzlaf, Scott Niedermayer and the physical Ducks team.

Ducks down:
Teemu Selanne's broken hand keeps him out tonight and for 4-6 additonal weeks following surgery.

Wings out:

Just saw a photo from warmups

Don’t worry everyone, Anaheim brought the correct jerseys. Minus another one for the dumbass Blues.

That part's not so bad

There are criminally few 7-11’s ’round these parts.

Lucky bastard

I can’t even picture one anywhere in Manhattan or surrounding.

by mpetrella on Dec 11, 2009 6:47 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Just went to 7-eleven.com

The nearest one is just over SEVEN miles from me. Which, in New York miles, is like a three day journey.

uphill both ways

we seriously have probably four or five in the wee town of blacksburg

Manhattanites are pretentious

If it’s not mom-and-pop, they boycott the shit out of it. I had to drive to Connecticut for Arby’s after the last Ducks game…

haha

my roommate and I were talking about the glory of Arby’s

Jesus, Helm is good.

That’s one whole hell of a hockey player.

I'll be the first to admit that man-love

He is incredible. I was fast and all, but if I had THAT speed, I’d never do anything BUT skate.

I just turned the game on, why isn’t the time showing on FSN?

by Apocalyptic0n3 on Dec 11, 2009 6:56 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Clock issue at the Joe

And apparently, the FSN clock is hard-wired to it. Because it’s 1935.

Just caught up...

Was a few minutes behind. How about that bouncing puck series of saves on JHo

by mpetrella on Dec 11, 2009 7:13 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

So....

we get goals called off and other teams get them called for them…

by Casey Richey on Dec 11, 2009 7:16 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Big Rig with the great save. no way that’s a goal. I still trust the War Room in Toronto make the right call.

Off Topic: not going to lie, this Lady GaGa song is catchy as hell. I’m comfortable as a 23 year old male to say that.

Sir.

You have my respect. I try to hide my quasi-admiration for some of that stuff. It’s too bad she’s such a goddamn weirdo, but some of that stuff is catchy as HELL.

by mpetrella on Dec 11, 2009 7:21 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Haha, she is a nutjob for sure. But whoever writes her music for her writes some catchy-ass tunes. I don’t own anything by her, nor have anything of hers on my computer, but when it’s on the radio or tv or whatever, I hum along. Shit’s just catchy.

by Mike Rogers on Dec 11, 2009 7:24 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Actually

She was a very accomplished songwriter for other artists before writing her own music. She’s legitimately one of the musical talents of the generation, disguised as a friggin weirdo who makes only halfway decent music (compared to her very impressive education).

by mpetrella on Dec 11, 2009 7:29 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Iiiiiinteresting. I did not know that. Well, besides the complete weirdness that is her …. everything else, she’s got some catchy music. Good to know.

by Mike Rogers on Dec 11, 2009 7:33 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

When I first saw her, I thought it was a joke.

So I looked her up, thinking it was just some stupid gimmick on TV. But she was granted early admission to Tisch (which is a huge deal), and wrote all these songs I’d heard of (didn’t like, but was familiar with), all while a teenager and woman in her early-20’s.

I still think she’s a farce, but anyone that claims she’s not uber-talented is blind. Not deaf, because it sounds ridiculous, but the talent’s there. It’s just hidden behind 80’s glasses and stupid makeup and pretension.

by mpetrella on Dec 11, 2009 7:36 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Wow, that’s cool. I’ll have to look up what songs she’s written.

Ha

I sound like super fanboy. It’s just the nature of my business to know stuff like that. I have exhausted my Lady Gaga knowledge here, for you fine folks, at Winging it in Motown. HAHA

by mpetrella on Dec 11, 2009 7:40 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

No goal! weee

now that is a legit goal call off

by Casey Richey on Dec 11, 2009 7:19 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

So wait a second....

If the call was to be on the Ducks, what difference would the potential goal call have made? It means they would have had to touch the puck, thus stopping play…

That should have been 1-0 Ducks

Blown opportunity. Seems like the bounces are going more Detroit’s way tonight than they have been the rest of the season.

Do your job, Brad May.

Isn’t he supposed to keep the flies off? Is it me or do the Wings have more injuries than they ever had in history? And guys are still getting run…..

Parros for interference

Wings need to get the Power Play rolling. It’s been bad to say the least

God the Ducks are the biggest bunch of ...

Perry with the elbow to Leino, Perry turns his back and gets hit but whines about it. Getzlaf crosschecks Abdelkader then Perry takes Abdelkader

He was the LAST Red Wing forward to take a draw. Even Brad Stuart had taken one before him.
