Dear Santa,
Here is the Christmas list that was passed around the Red Wings locker room:
Justin Abdelkader: Better face-off percentage
Todd Bertuzzi: skates that help me keep my balance, Petrella's home address.
Dan Cleary: a return to the line-up
Pavel Datsyuk: sticks that don't break twice in a shift, and the James Brown box set
Kris Draper: that people will stop calling me old
Patrick Eaves: nothing to ask for here, life is good, Santa.
Jonathan Ericsson: my level of play from last year
Valtteri Filppula: playing again
Johan Franzen: a fire truck.
Darren Helm: some breakaway skills, some breakaways.
Tomas Holmstrom: better leg pads for in front of de goalie please Jultomten.
Jimmy Howard: some scoring support would be swell.
Jakub Kindl: a future roster spot
Niklas Kronwall: Georges Laraque lined up in my first game back...somehow.
Brett Lebda: a spot on the top forward line, since I like to lead the attack so much :)
Ville Leino: anything. Please, Santa. Just a goal or something? ANYTHING?
Nicklas Lidstrom: Another goal. Too much to ask? I've been a good guy
Andreas Lilja: Advil.
Kirk Maltby: That people will stop unnecessarily slashing me when I'm skating down the ice.
Brad May: That nobody will notice I should be in the AHL
Derek Meech: That I don't return to the press box :(
Drew Miller: please, come on. I deserve a roster spot. Send Brad May down, he's done nothing.
Chris Osgood: a seat cushion for the bench I've been riding.
Brian Rafalski: More confidence with the puck like I used to have.
Brad Stuart: Some recognition for my play would be cool.
Jason Williams: To be back on the ice soon.
Henrik Zetterberg: That my Swedish teammate (Mattias Ohlund) won't lay me out before the Olympics.
Mike Babcock: Somebody scoring please
Ken Holland: More pens to fill out all of these transaction papers. Tomas Tatar.
If you could bring us these things for the rest of the year, that would make it the bestest Christmas ever.
Signed,
The Detroit Red Wings

Interesting because
Stuart played longer than anyone else on Wednesday and I didn’t hear his name mentioned once or really see him doing much.
Williams’s return is tentatively scheduled for 17 January against Chicago.
And apparently Rafalski had the flu.
Stewies name hasn’t been called all that much because he’s played well. I almost don’t want williams to return bc of how other guys are playing

As a D-man
playing that many minutes and not hearing your name called is a good thing.
Come get me, Bertuzzi.
(On second thought, please don’t).
