McCarty officially announces retirement
"TORONTO — Darren McCarty, a veteran of 15 NHL seasons who won four Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings, officially announced his retirement today.
The 37-year-old spent 13 seasons with the Red Wings. He appeared in 758 games overall, recording 127 goals, 288 points and 1,477 penalty minutes. He scored the Cup-winning goal in the 1997 finals against Philadelphia to end Detroit’s 42-year title drought. He also helped the Red Wings hoist the Cup in 1998, 2002 and ’08."

Um... sure why not?
Yes he did, as most players do when they retire. Don’t think the job with Versus is all the way done yet and as he said in that broadcast “pretty much yes, but nothing for sure yet” He’s also pretty much hinted earlier around pre-season that if someone wanted him, he would play. Under the radar like, as to not disrespect the Wings in the process.
You and that lovely grin will surely be missed in motown and beyond Mr. McCarty!! It was a pleasure watching you kick ass and take names every time you hit the ice. An all the way, balls out, brutal guy.
Bet the turtle can sleep safer at night now.
