[Game Thread] Red Wings @ Predators

The Nashville Predators (30-28-4) host the Detroit Red Wings (41-13-8) tonight at the Sommet Center for the fourth matchup between these two teams this season. Be sure to check out our SBN counterpart, On the Forecheck, for all things Nashville Predators.

Nashville needs to earn its fourth straight win tonight as they currently sit 11th in the closely contested Western Conference standings. They only have one point less than Dallas, who currently sits in the No. 8 spot. Thanks to their recent hot streak since the All-Star break, Nashville GM David Poile no longer plans on selling by the trade deadline. Instead, he is planning to be a buyer according to The Tennessean.

Ty Conklin will get the start in goal, despite a strong performance from Chris Osgood on Friday night. Marian Hossa remains out with a neck injury, but should hopefully play on Tuesday. Tomas Holmstrom has finally started practicing with the team and hopes to return to the lineup in about two weeks.

The puck drops at 8 p.m. and the game will be shown on FSDetroit. Go Wings!

4 goals on 9 shots...

…equals an early trip to the showers for Ty, barely 10 minutes in. Osgood now in the pipes.

Didn't catch the game either.

Never been so thankful that I had to work the U-M hockey game and consequently miss the Wings.
