Detroit's clinched!
Just figured out that the Red Wings are a lock for the playoffs. Not officially, but technically they can't miss. Apparently.

I don’t think any of us doubted the Wings would make the playoffs, but it’s still nice to know for sure!
They have yet to officially clinch it.
But typically, a team that earns at least 90 points in the standings will make the playoffs, which is why James Mirtle said they clinched it back in late February. He explains his reasoning here: http://www.fromtherink.com/2008/12/31/705763/the-playoff-push-90-points
It’s certainly a great feeling to know that you pretty much have a playoff spot in February unless something ridiculously screwed up happens!
