You’re obviously not living in Detroit nWolv13. Noone here would rather watch a game on the crap VS network than FSN
I do live in Michigan, and while you and I and probably most Wings fans would watch on FSD if given the choice, you can’t really be saying that zero people will watch the game on VS. Personally, I’d even rather watch on CBC than VS, but since we’ve only been given the one option for 3/4 games thusfar, it’s not too big of a surprise that the ratings are (somewhat artificially) high.
TV Rights
To be clear: in the first round, the local rights holder gets all the games unless NBC picks it up. In the second round, Versus can take up to two games for exclusives. Starting with the conference finals, all the games are on either Versus or NBC.
And remember: the ratings don’t include viewers watching on CBC in Detroit.
Versus
Say what you want, as a Detroit Red Wings fan (not the only one) who lives in Anchorage, Alaska. I am extremely grateful for the Versus game. The only disappointment about the Red Wings sweeping the series against the Blue Jackets was that I would have been able to watch game 5 today. A minor thing though. Columbus needed that education (what a bunch of thugs!).
Up here all the other games were aired on TSN which I don’t get because I can’t afford the extra cable package. So count your blessings and if you are ever at a live game or watching one shown only on the local network cheer extra loud next time for all the Detroit Red Wings fans who would be there if we could. GO WINGS!!!!
