Who will Detroit play next?

So the Wings have a few days to just relax, maybe take in the NFL draft, practice, and prepare for the Western Conference semifinals, which leads us to the WIM featured poll.

Vancouver swept St. Louis so they also have some time to rest up and prepare for the next round. We're still waiting on the Anaheim-San Jose series to determine who we'll play. Anaheim can win it tonight on the road. But San Jose could force a Game 6 with a big home victory this evening.

If Anaheim wins the series, we'll be seeing a lot of them over the next couple of weeks. If San Jose can come back from a 3-1 series deficit to win the series, we'll face Vancouver.

There's no chance Detroit will play the winner of the Chicago-Calgary series in the second round. If San Jose wins, they'll play the winner. If Anaheim wins, Vancouver would play the series winner because that team would be the second lowest seed and the Wings would get Anaheim (the lowest seed left).

According to Google Maps, Vancouver is 3,992 km (2,480 miles) away from Detroit. Anaheim is 2,278 miles from Motown. So it's pretty close, but Anaheim would be slightly better travel without even factoring in customs and crossing the border fun.

Wow...

Everyone picked Anaheim. I think they’ll win it tonight, the ducks have looked too good to lose.

I think either the Ducks or the Canucks will be formidable foes, but nothing the Wings cant handle.
Ill call Wings in six against either!

Luongo or Pronger.....

The canucks scare me more than the ducks. Pronger however will try his usual crap but are depth is better than the last time we play’d him in the play-offs.

Early prediction....

Wings over Ducks in 7
Canucks over Hawks in 5

Its gonna be an AWESOME west final….im rooting for you guys to join us

You guys should be cheering for the Sharks. The Canucks are extremely mediocre at even strength, whereas that’s your dominant strength. Wings over Vancouver in 5 would be the likely outcome.

The Canucks are better than that R O

Extremely mediocre is an interesting way to describe them. I’d say Extremely dangerous with Roberto in net. I’m rooting for the ducks to win in 7.

The REAL question is...

…who would we rather face? The Ducks’ defense is spectacular right now, and HIller is looking terrifyingly like Giguere when the quackers kicked us out of the playoffs a couple years back.

I hope the Ducks kick out the sharks, I would rather the Canucks don’t play Detriot in the second round…

Suspense

killllling me. Some Wings aren’t getting any younger with this wait haha

by Detroit4lyfe on Apr 27, 2009 9:10 PM CDT reply actions

Haha.

If we play the Ducks, I’m all for making them work for it before advancing to the next round. If we’re going to end up facing the Canucks anyways, this wait is awful.

Ducks it is!! In the words of the late Montreal broadcaster Danny Gallivan, its going be a really rugged series!

Good luck against the Ducks

Looking forward to a Wings-Canucks west final
