[Game Thread] Wings @ Sabres

Detroit Red Wings at Buffalo Sabres, Apr 6, 2009 6:00 PM CDT

After snagging their first win in four games and clinching win number 50, the Detroit Red Wings (50-19-9) face off against the Buffalo Sabres (38-31-9) tonight on the road.

Chris Osgood will start tonight in net. Unless you hear otherwise, expect defensemen Brian Rafalski and Andreas Lilja to remain out with their respective injuries.

The game is slated to start at 7 p.m. and will be shown on Versus. Go Wings!

Sounds Fair

I would have to agree with 4-2 but just to make my post original I’ll call who scores the game winner… Hmm I think I’ll go with Jiri Hudler tonight. What a great night for Michigan sports! MSU in the championship, Wings playing the Sabres, and of course the Tigers opener. Go Michigan!

I know!

I’ll be flipping back and forth on my TV trying to catch as much as I can. Obviously, I’ll be watching the Wings and flipping during that game’s commercials. :)

Now that it’s scoreless almost halfway through the game, my prediction isn’t looking too hot. Haha.

ironic that Ryan Miller is playing against a Michigan team. Apparently they said on FSN that he used to chat with Coach Izzo.

So my prediction wasn't that far off.

Despite a scoreless first half of the game, the Wings finish with a 4-1 score.

That's Acceptable

I wouldn’t mind a 1-0 win at all. We all know the Wings can score and a shutout would be a wonderful omen as the post season rolls around. If that’s the case I’d happily admit my prediction was wrong. haha

Wings score!

With Homer screening down front, defenseman Brad Stuart scores on a hard shot from the point to give Detroit a one-goal lead.

Yay Brad Stuart! And yay for not getting Versus in my area without paying $30 more a month :(

First amazing pass by Hossa to Stuart. Second Holmstrom’s screen of Miller was key for that goal.
