I find it hard to believe the referees in Game 7 of the Wings/Ducks series were watching the same game I saw on FSN Detroit. With the exception of a couple questionable calls against Ryan Getzlaf in the first period, I could have sworn the refs were wearing Ducks uniforms. The most noticeable symptom was their apparent Pronger-blindness. First, he boards Marian Hossa and hog-ties him on the way down with the ref watching from 15 feet away at most, and no call. Then Pronger cross-checks Jiri Hudler right into Jonas Hiller and HUDLER gets called for goaltender interference?!?!! And what about the "broken" stick that was maneuvered right into the shooting lane by one of the Ducks during a Wings power play and the refs don't even bat an eye? I could go on, but the bottom line is this: Game 7 wouldn't have even been close if the refs were doing their job.
P.S.: To all those out there who would say "Why are you whining? The Wings won, so get over it!" my reply is simple: I'm with Mickey Redmond, who said you call the refs on the carpet after WINNING a game as opposed to after LOSING a game. If you complain after you lose, you look like a total whiny-butt. My gripe is the Wings had to work a lot harder than they should have to advance to the Conference Finals thanks to piss-poor officiating. I've been to several playoff games at The Joe where the crowd started the B.S. chant, but I have never heard it that much before -- and the refs earned all of it.
