Irrelevant to the Playoffs...

But just looking at some old stuff and oh man. There was a trade back in 2004 that well, we probably would have been better off not making.

We traded Tomas Fleischmann and 1st round draft pick in 2004 and a 4th round pick in 2006 to the Washington Capitals for Robert Lang. Anyone know who would go on to be that 1st round pick? Nope? Mike Green. I know the Wings may not have drafted Green but just imagine if they did.

I know Lang helped out the team in his 3 years with the Wings but wow think of the yougn talent we could have. Fleischmann isn't a superstar yet but has all the makings to be one and Green has emmerged as one of the best D-men in the league, especially offensively.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but still...wow. However, Lang did probably contribute the most to the Wings by mentoring Jiri Hudler, so I guess it wasn't all that bad of a deal was it?

Yeah

Mike Green used to play here in Saskatoon for the Blades and I remember that the Caps drafted Schultz with there pick and then Green with ours…. I knew Green was going to be a good one, but definitely did not predict 30 goal seasons from him… Fleischmann is also turning into a decent NHL regular.
