Pre-Game Thoughts
It's not a matter of history. It's not a matter of lucky numbers. It's not a matter of which fanbase is faithful to the playoff beard--although I'm sure all growing one would like to think so.
It's a matter of 19 guys wearing the Winged Wheel crest coming out to play tonight and giving everything they have. You can apply any of the overused sports cliches to describe the enormity of this game but it comes down to the guys wearing that crest playing the best hockey of their lives to achieve the ultimate goal of every hockey player. There's no doubt in my mind that they will play the best hockey that they are capable of and hopefully they will be rewarded for it. Some players will cement their name in the greats of modern hockey while others will have to wait another year for that chance.
No team ever won a Stanley Cup based on historical statistics about past Finals situations--although they help to ease and assure the mind of the fan--and no team ever will. Effort, determination, and perhaps a few lucky bounces win Stanley Cups and Detroit will need all of the above to keep the Stanley Cup in Hockeytown.
Go Wings.

I can't friggin take this...!
Drop the F’N puck already!!! I hope no one in the Detroit area was planning on getting a lot done today, because if Hockeytown has been anywhere near as unproductive as I have been the Detroit Economy just took another hit!
Six flippin hours away from game time I need to get outta here, put some Wings gear on my back and some beer down my gullet. Not to mention that this friggin beard is drivin me nuts and this mullet is startin to look a little too good in the mirror. An 82 game season and a whole lot of playoff hockey all comes down to this game and I don’t know how much longer I can sit at this desk!
Gotta respect and congradulate this Pittsburgh team and their fans for another fantastic season on their part, but tonight is about the Red and White. Thousands and thousands of screaming fans pouring onto the streets of Detroit from anywhere downtown that has a tap, a bar, or even a tub with some beer in it. The 20,000 winged wheeled nuts down at the Joe yelling and applauding till their voices give out and their hands fall off as one Redwing after another carries around that majestic 35lb, shiny piece of Glory on Ice. Bruises, stitches, missing teeth and broken limbs won’t matter a bit once that Cup is being lifted above their heads and their skates will barely touch the ice as the party carries from late tonight til the radio interviews are completed tomorrow. We may not have a lot of positive going on right now in Motown, but tonight it won’t matter a bit!

Wings lose= worst day of my life.
In the grand scheme of things, the pain of life is not worth it.

Fear is understandable, the Pens are coming to JL with something to prove.
