Detroit Fans

This is my first ever blog anything.  But I have to say that the Detroit Redwing fans were extremely rude after the final game of the Stanley Cup. Actually even during the game.  Applauding Crosby's injury and booing the winning team longer than necessary.  We all feel that the officiating was as strict as during the regular season, but it was enjoyable to watch a match that wasn't stopped very much. this interrupts the flow and spoils the game for watching. They let the boys play but didn't let them get to far out of hand. Even if I was a Detroit fan I would have been embarassed for my city. Thats it.

Gee Thanks

I’m sure every person that was at the game and booed will now read this and be sure to change their awful awful ways… /s

Honestly man let it go, I know you may not want to believe this or choose not to but Pens’ fans were doing the same exact thing last year.

And for the record I don’t think the Wings fans wee booing the Penguins so much as they were booing Bettman. I was watching it all on tv and I specifically remember my friends commenting on the fans booing Bettman and cheering for the cup. You won the cup on the road, did you really not expect a few boo birds to join you?

Actually, I thought the fans were pretty good

Many, if not most, stayed for the Cup ceremony when they could have just left, as the fans did in Pittsburgh last season.

The booing, etc., is not all that unusual. I agree that most of the boos were probably directed at Bettman rather than the Penguins. And yes, Pens fans were doing this last year. It happens.

all you really have to do is look at the photos of sid skating with the cup, theres one shot of wings fans just going bonkers cheering him on. classy there. i think what is fueling this thread is the insane post by hockeyfanbyblood.

Funny

What sports loyalties can do to people. :)

Let me clarify, by the way

“…when they could have just left, as the fans did in Pittsburgh last season.”

That comes off sounding like I’m saying fans in Pittsburgh left early. I meant to say that they stayed for the ceremony last year.

Any moron could tell...

that the fans were booing Bettman. I’ll bet there were some assholes in powder blue Penguins jerseys joining in as well! Everyone hates Bettman, except for his own mother and Crosby, who has sort of an aw-shucks! naivete. He reminds me of Gary from “Team America: World Police.” Don’t take fan behaviour so personally, especially the bad stuff—there is always a little misbehaving from fans on the losing side of a championship game, as is to be expected. The majority of Wings fans, however, have been the epitome of classiness. We’re used to winning in Motown (I say we, even though I’m in Minnesota—I feel part of a family), and it hurts to come so close and not win. Next year the Wings will bring the Cup back!

OMFG they were booing!!!! Send them to jail please, all ass, no class!!!!!

You could say that about every teams damn fans because every team has both ignorant jackasses as well as polite and smart fans, give your head a shake.

In the grand scheme of things, the pain of life is not worth it.

Whatever

The Red Wings fans stayed well after the game to watch Pittsburgh hoist their cup. I don’t think that was rude, I think it was classy. Detroit is Hockeytown. We are passionate about the sport and we respect it deeply. To say that Detroit fans are rude is a poor assessment.

Detroit fans

I live in Minnesota but am a die hard Red Wing fan. All fans would boo in that situation as did the Pens fans last year. It’s their right to do so, after all, with the money one has to shell out to go to a game nowadays you should be free to boo and cheer. The Wings will be back but not so sure about the Pens. Pittsburgh must keep their top three stars together, being Crosby, Malkin, and Bettman.

I love coming here to see what new tears i see, it sounds like you guys just assumed that the wings were going to win because it was at the Joe, it’s just funny how all you fans just discounted the fact that the game had to be played, you all sound like Barry Melrose when he said the penguins still shouldnt have won, sad so sad that the media and fans make decisions about games before the game is actually played. Now someone Bettman rigged the games for us to win…you are pathetic.

The only pathetic thing I see

Is some moron Penguins fan who keeps coming here every day to run his mouth when nobody cares what he has to say. That by definition is pathetic in itself. You have nothing better to do than come here and instigate arguments and flap your dick beaters. Why don’t you do us all a favor….go jack off to your own teams blog and STFU.

hey Jason, you won…show some class, and quit being an ass over here….

by ahtrap on Jun 18, 2009 1:05 PM CDT up reply actions

I can not agree more...

Jason, your team won, so shut the hell up and celebrate. I guess what some people claim to be class is something different then what the world perceives class to be. The city of Detroit is a classy sports town. We don’t throw beer, popcorn, etc. at out of town fans like they do in Philly and New York, but I guess that is what Jason considers to be class.

Now, as for the booing. I was one of the many, from in front of my TV along with the 20k in attendence, who happened to be booing Gary Bettman. I stayed around to watch the presentation of the Stanely Cup, then headed to the bar to drown my sorrows with my fellow locals. But, maybe, since Bettman has made Crosby his Golden Child, and us in Detroit HATE Bettman, that Pittsburgh is a Bettman town. And we all know that we don’t like seeing one of our own being booed. Who know’s?
