Lidstrom Had Surgery, Other Injury Updates
Apparently the reason Nicklas Lidstrom missed the two games in Chicago was because of surgery on his nether regions, more specifically, his testicles. No wonder the Captain struggled at times, and that's not an attempt at making excuses for the loss. The report is that Lidstrom suffered an injury following a spear from the Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp in Game 3. Ouch, hopefully he makes a full recovery in the offseason.
Pavel Datsyuk apparently had a charley horse from Game 2 in Chicago, the same game his foot was injured.
Brian Rafalski had a herniated disc, the reason for his abscence in the Anaheim series.
Dan Cleary had a "severely pulled groin" but still played. The last three can be found here from Ansar Khan of mlive.com
By the way, this may be old news at this point but I just now got around to looking at stuff like this so apologies if you already know.

Just to many injuries this time around
Sharp is a giant jackass. I know it`s not our thing to fight, but he should get something in return next year for going after the captain.

Anyways, I was at a friends house watching the game and left immediately after the buzzer sounded, I refused to watch any celebrating by the Pens and will never do so. It will probably only last until we see a million crappy commercials with Crysby liftin

The injuries are no excuse
All playoff teams have injuries, and even Chris Osgood said this.

Ouch.
Can you imagine playing in the Stanley Cup finals after having your nuts speared and then operated on (guys)? I got hit lightly there with a football one time, and it made me puke. I can’t imagine how Lidstrom felt. Hopefully the surgery worked and relieved some pressure, but it did look like he was playing quite gingerly. Not quite the same play we’ve come to take for granted from number five. I hope the offseason gives him plenty of time to recover. Stay off of your nuts, Nicklas!
