Versus being booted from DirecTV
Link here. Seems like Versus wants more money from DirecTV, and DirecTV says no. This is very disappointing for me, as someone who has DirecTV, and someone who loves watching the NHL playoffs. If they don't figure it out, it will be very tough to actually watch most of the playoff games.
Us Wings fans still have FS Detroit for the regular season and some of the playoffs, but NBC doesn't even cover every game of the Finals. If only the NHL could get off of Versus...I think the network is still a sinking ship.

Bring back ESPN
God i wish Bettman would get his head out of his butt and take the NHL back to ESPN…ESPN is the king of sports media coverage…not to mention I sorely miss hearing Gary Thorne and Bill Clement host games come playoff time…Thorne’s play by play of Draper scoring the game winning goal in game 2 in 98 still stands out as one of the greatest moments Ive ever seen on television and watching last years college playoffs on ESPNU with Thorne and Melrose was just a tease for all of us NHL fans who wish we could have National Hockey Night back.

The glory days were when hockey was on ESPN.
This is very disappointing because I switched to DirecTV this year to save some money.

ARGH
I chose DirecTV over Dish Network a year ago, and one of the big reasons was because DirecTV did offer Versus. This would suck really hard.

Relax guys
I had like two channels until they switched over to a digital signal (lousy country) … but with the internet you can still catch almost every single game, especially the playoffs. I am not going to list a bunch of the tv streaming sites but if you do a little searching you will find a handful once the season starts up.

The NHL started cracking down on the free streaming websites since they started offering Center Ice. Hopefully that isn’t the case this season but I kind of doubt it.

Unfortunately, the video quality of these isn't always the best.

nfl games are streamed
the NHL can crack down but the nfl cant control streamed games. i doubt the nhl will be able to close them out. unfortunatly i dont get fs det here in florida so i have to stream wings and lions games. it’s not that bad. you get used to the quality.

gasp...
gary thorne was really good! ESPN was the best for everyone, now bettman (lousy bastard he is) can’t seem to grasp that the NHL is not getting enough views! Stop being anti-canadian bettman and start being pro-Everyone! You don’t have to pretend to not like canada… we all know! Whats next? Hockey night in canada gets the ol boot?
Datsyuk is like Iverson....... Breaks ankles all the time!

One thing to remember as well, VERSUS is owned by Comcast who also owns the Flyers. You can bet that they aren’t about to cut any deals in the first place.

Comcast's fault
I read an article that explained how comcast owns versus and that comcast was making direct tv pay so much money for versus that they refused it. Being an angry ex-comcast customer this makes complete sense to me. Comcast tries to get as much money from you in any way possible. Hate comcast. NHL package for me this year.
