Morning Skate OR Entraînement Matinal
(I probably do not have that anywhere near correct, but that's what you get when you use online translators. If you know the proper way, shoot me an e-mail) Reader DamienBixlan has corrected my prior idiocy, and I thank him.
I probably don't have enough time to get a full preview up today as I'm backed up with work but here's the skinny:
- The Red Wings are trying to end their little skid of three games without a win but they face one of the surprises this season in the NHL. No, it's not a surprise that the Canadiens are doing well, they made the playoffs last year after all. It's a surprise how well they are doing. A lot expected Carey Price to flounder after Jaroslav Halak bolted for St. Louis and although the jury's still out since the season is young, he does lead the NHL in wins with 17 and is top-5 in SV% and GAA.
- The Habs have four players with 9 goals to lead the team in scoring: Brian Gionta, Mike Cammaleri, Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Kostitsyn.
- As for Detroit, Jimmy Howard will start in goal and try to break off this little "slump" he's having. The Wings may need to rely heavily on Howard tonight with the way Price is playing at the other end of the ice.
- No Georges Laraque. Yay!

submitted 4-3 Wings in OT…POTG = Z with 2 goals
LETS GO RED WINGS!
2011 will be the year....better be....
Troy Tulowitzki: "When people think of the Rockies, I want them to think of a winning organization."
4-2 Wings, Datsyuk POG
well, I realize the past two game threads have been rough…I have not been in them…errr the Wings have been terrible…but since I am back I think they rebound and take it to Montreal from start to finish…
p.s. exams still suck
5-1 Wings, Franzen
My first time submitting some predictions…
I think that the wings will turn it on this game, I’m fairly sure that they are going to be fired up after the last 3 losses.
We’ll see.
Entrainement Matinal :)
Almost correct, but you’d have to say “patinage” since “patin” only refers to the piece of equipement. To be exact, though, here we use the expression “Entraînement Matinal” (morning training).
As a resident of Quebec I’m kinda torn apart about this game, since being a fan of both the Wings and the Habs I want neither teams to lose!
p.s Like many people around here I always thought of Laraque as a annoyance but after his hit on Kronwall I started to just plain hate him… Fun Fact: Laraque quit hockey and is now a poster child for the Canadian Green Party,
P.S
Oh and Chipchura isn’t with the Habs anymore… he’s gone from being useless in Montreal to being useless with the Ducks

Dancing Datsyuk Decidedly Dazzles Dainty Defensemen
5-1 Wings, Mule PotG
Either Price has a terrible game and the Wings win, or he shuts us out and my fantasy team wins. I’d prefer the former, obviously, but at least there’s a small silver lining if we lose.
3-2 Wings
Cammalleri pots both goals for MTL, but it’s not enough

4-3 Wings, Lidstrom
I say Lidstrom, because I need the old man to get some points, but I plan on wearing my Franzen socks. Just in case.
What to do, what to do
I’ve picked the other team when the Wings won, and picked the Wings when they lost. So let’s see if this works:
3-1 Montreal with Datsyuk as the PotG.
You're a bigger man than I
I can’t bring myself to predict against the Wings.
by Red, White and a Mile high on Dec 10, 2010 11:40 AM CST up reply actions
I can
Only because I’m a pessimistic optimist: I truly want to believe that only good things will happen, but by picking against them I am setting myself up to be prepared for them to lose. It’s why I always pick “Wings in 6” in any playoff series I’ve ever predicted; if they were playing my old mens’ league team, I’d pick Wings in 6.

yeah…I thought that too when i first saw it. But that can be excused cuz everyone knows neither Mo, nor emo kids are ever fat. Mikey is a pro athlete and as for emo kids…it’s tough to be fat when you live on clove cigarettes and coffee.
Is it OK to still call them “emo kids?” Some of them have to be “adults” by now. But, the word “emos” just sounds so weird.

4-3 Red Wings
Datsyuk PoG
Additional prediction: I curse Mike Cammalleri as an evil magical elf for scoring two on us.

So, uh, Mike Cammalleri = Dio?
Camalleri’s got pretty much a lifetime pass from me for his time at Michigan.

If I had to pick anybody to nickname “Holy Diver”, it would be Joe Pavelski.
by J.J. from Kansas on Dec 10, 2010 12:41 PM CST up reply actions
yeah, but...
Pavelski was also at a school I attended, and won a national championship when I was in the building, so I’ve got a soft spot for that kid, too.
Kinda rough having grown up next door to Ann Arbor, and then moving to Madison, watching all these good college players you cheer for suddenly being the enemy.
I'm expecting 100% improvement from the Lions this season.
Last 3 have been hard to watch
I’m switching it up a bit and I love the Wings but… 3-1 Montreal. Carey Price . Maybe this will unjinx us

Do you have a Wing for PotG? We don’t really consider the other players for such a prestigious honour.

4-2 Wings, Datsyuk
Close game, but Cleary works hard to get an empty-netter.

Not yet you don't...
The new winner is announced tomorrow. A hat trick tonight would be like one last night of wonder with your skanky ex (roast beef) before moving on to your TRUE love (CURLY FRIED BEAUTY).

Won't be able to watch tonight
I am working until 11 so I will be missing the game tonight. I really won’t know what to think if we lose again, so I predict 4-2 Detroit, with Pavel as the PotG
I also have a feeling that Hudler will maybe, just hopefully, hit the net tonight.
2-1 Wings win in a shootout. Goalie night at The Joe!
Player of the game….Jimmy Howard. Obviously. GO WINGS!
I just stopped by to say...
Look at all of the emotion being shown by the folks in the front row. Jesus Christ, maybe the jumbotron operator should put some Jerry Lewis on.

3-1 Wings, Buckets for POTG
I’ve got a good feeling about Dan tonight. Really don’t care who gets POTG as long as we win.
question
I am in NYC for the weekend and was wondering if any fellow WiiM ers in NYC can direct me to a locale showing wings-habs game (some french canadian bar perhaps?)…I know it is a stupid question…but if there is a place in the vast confines of the big apple I will be there tonight!

I assume you are in Manhattan?
If so, then, go to Kelly’s Sports Bar. It’s definitely NOT a french canadian sports bar. I have never been there. But, it will definitely be viewing the hockey games. By the way… Could you imagine being French? AND Canadian? I don’t think even Tom from Myspace would be their friend!
yeah
Thanks for the reply. Will check it out. I guess the appropriate word must have been Quebecois
