Go Blue!

Sadly, I wont be able to watch this game, but it’s sure to be a good one…

Go for it

Go Sparty!

I love both teams, but sorry… if I had to choose… its State.

GO BLUE!

I’m heading to the Big House right now. Woo hoo! Hopefully I’ll be as happy when I’m leaving the stadium.

Michigan

We have to be better than state in atleast one sport and with our football team going for the Lions record Hockey has to be it for us

by Rwings on Dec 11, 2010 1:17 PM CST reply actions

Slow down there chief

Michigan’s football team has a winning record and is in a bowl game. Don’t go dropping Lions references all over the place. As for basketball? Michigan has a better record right now and fared better against the only common opponent (Syracuse) they have with MSU. I’m not saying they will beat MSU or contend for the Big Ten title, but at least we’ve got that going for us.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 1:24 PM CST up reply actions

Easy there with BB

MSU has had a much tougher schedule thusfar.

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 2:14 PM CST up reply actions

I just said Michigan had a better record

It has more to do with my disdain for preseason rankings (or rankings in general) than anything else.

“Aside from Keith, the Spartans had Adam Hall (Lightning), Andrew Hutchinson (Penguins), Jim Slater (Thrashers), John-Michael Liles (Avalanche) and Ryan Miller (Sabres). Michigan had Michael Cammalleri (Canadiens), Mike Komisarek (Maple Leafs), David Moss (Flames) and Eric Nystrom (Wild). All likely will be watching to see what happens Saturday in Ann Arbor, remembering what fun they had in the first game nine years ago.”

I didn't know Keith played for them.

GO BLUE!!!

Hello all, had to establish my rooting interest first.

Also, Mickey Redmond’s hat is tremendous.

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 2:09 PM CST reply actions

I prefer State

but I go to EMU so it doesnt really matter, but the UofM jers are sick

by bmark6197 on Dec 11, 2010 2:13 PM CST reply actions

Yeah I like them

They’re throwbacks from 1948 jerseys they wore when they won the NC. Though the Wolverine design on front could be better…kinda looks like a beaver.

Just a heads up to ppl

I believe there is a open skate at the big house tomorrow if anyone wants to skate at the ice

I don't really care either way (blasphemy, I know).

I mean..it’s outdoor hockey between two huge rivalries. It’s awesome either way.

by crperreau on Dec 11, 2010 2:35 PM CST up reply actions

kinda what i was thinking… its an historical game. why hate against either?

On how to do the whole "outdoor game" thing?

Considering who the commissioner is, he’s probably watching Gulla Gulla Island re-runs right now instead of this.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 2:38 PM CST up reply actions

they should just put sesame street on gulla gulla island. we would have world peace.

by mikerlz on Dec 11, 2010 2:40 PM CST up reply actions

Babcock was bummed

He didnt understand why they didnt do a double header or have the Mtl and wings game there last night

by bmark6197 on Dec 11, 2010 2:41 PM CST up reply actions

It's obvious

There was a Bananas in Pajamas marathon on TV. Bettman couldn’t miss that.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 2:43 PM CST up reply actions

Man, they would have made a killing.

Why not? Everything was set up! Oh well…

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 2:43 PM CST up reply actions

the overhead shot of the stadium

is just… epic for a hockey game.

Poor Jon Merrell

Draft pick of New Jersey? Might not be good since they mortgaged their future with Ilya…

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 3:17 PM CST reply actions

NO GOAL

Good call. Would/should have been a goal in the NHL.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 3:20 PM CST reply actions

What's the difference in rules there?

What constitutes the net being “off the moorings” in college vs. the NHL?

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 3:22 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not 100% sure on this

but I think in the NHL if the puck is going in, it doesn’t matter if the net comes off the moorings like that.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 3:24 PM CST up reply actions

i hate getting excited and then heartbroken simultaneously like that

by mikerlz on Dec 11, 2010 3:22 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, that happened last year for UM against Miami of Ohio

in the NCAA tourney…perfectly good goal in OT was waved off by an insanely quick whistle. I was extremely elated then immediately heartbroken. And naturally, UM lost the game, because that’s how those things usually work out.

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 3:24 PM CST up reply actions

That was just an errant whistle

It’s like Brad Watson was reffing or something.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 3:25 PM CST up reply actions

ZING!

I will forever hate the “intent” rule. With a burning passion.

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 3:26 PM CST up reply actions

Wow

Great save there. Not a good angle for the shooter but still a big stop.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 3:31 PM CST reply actions

Refs have called a fair game, IMO.

Not too many penalties, and pretty fair with what they’ve called so far on both sides.

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 3:35 PM CST reply actions

Should the NHL expand to olympic-sized rinks?

Just asked on TV…I tend to agree with Aaron Ward there, I think the NHL is fine with the way it is now. No need to change it.

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 3:51 PM CST reply actions

soo…nosebleeds need a telescope to see wth is going on? They could use fox puck

by Thever on Dec 11, 2010 4:04 PM CST reply actions

And for COLLEGE HOCKEY.

Canadians everywhere should be proud of us!

by tehGOALIE on Dec 11, 2010 4:11 PM CST up reply actions

As somebody asked last night…think if the Wings were there, probably even beat that

by Thever on Dec 11, 2010 4:11 PM CST up reply actions

Over 1 million fans at Michigan Stadium this season

I like how they included commencement with the other games to pad their stats.

by Rob Rogacki on Dec 11, 2010 4:32 PM CST reply actions

Glad to see the team play for the SO at the end

Hunwick played great in net today! Much deserved for him.
