Game meet-ups?

Hey everyone, this is something I've seen a lot of other sites try and have success with. It seems like a lot of you are in the Detroit or Ann Arbor area and seems like a fair amount of you get to the games. Basically, I'd like this post to serve as a jumping off point for organizing meet-ups (if folks are interested of course) for pre and post game or "viewing parties" for away games. Unfortunately, neither Graham, JJ or myself are in the area and won't be able to do this on a consistent basis so this is more of a "up to you all" type thing.

Follow the jump for more on this idea and of course comment with suggestions.

What I've seen from a lot of other websites from my time on SB Nation is that someone will organize a pre-game meet-up or a viewing party for the away games or what have you. Basically, since the three of us won't be able to go, I'm just wanting to open up this idea and offer a forum for discussion on it. I'm hoping we'll get someone (or multiple people) that will step forward and offer to help coordinate things, if so shoot me an e-mail.

Here are some topics that might help the discussion go if you're interested.

1.) Physical location? Red Wings nation is exactly that, a nation. Looking at traffic details for the site I can tell we get readers from ALL over the US and Canada. This is pretty simple and Igorzba's fanpost partially covered this, just comment with the place you spend the majority of your year (sounds like we have a lot of collegiate readers). I'm sure we'll have some that are from the same area outside of Michigan so you all may be able to get something going in your own areas. For those in Michigan, a lot of you are in the Detroit area but I'm pretty sure we get a lot of Grand Rapids readers and Ann Arbor readers. Although AA is close, I'd imagine the majority of those in AA go to Michigan and may not have time to go into Detroit for a meet-up.

2.) Meet-up location? I'll be the first to admit I don't know diddily about places to go in Detroit, that's what happens when you grow up 10 hours away from there. So I'm sure some of you fine folks have favorite water holes or places you grab a bite to eat pre-game. For those out of town that want to organize viewing parties at bars/restaurants, I know even less about your city most likely so it's up to you.

3.) Volunteers? Any volunteers to help coordinate these meet-ups? If we get a few sets of locations, I'd like to have one or two people that help organize it in each area. As mentioned above, shoot me an e-mail if you're willing and we'll try to work things out from there.
