Got the rum and coke machine working here
I’m use a piece of glass from a window I broke from that last goal as a monocle.
mind passing a smaller piece of glass so i can make a smaller monocle for my monocle’s monocle…..monocole.
I haven't seen it either
Just not a movie person. :(
I’ve had Animal House sitting next to my television for months. Never even opened the case.

I've decided I'm just not going to sleep ever again
It’s the only way I can maintain a wife and 2 kids, a full time job, a blog, other blogs and podcasts, and the games themselves.
I don't even have a family
But a job, maintaining a house, hobbies, and chatting with friends …
Not enough hours in the day.

I don’t have enough hours in the day for my job, let alone the rest of it – but that’s just my job right now.
I know
My job would take up more hours if I let it, but I’m hourly and quite frankly they don’t pay me enough to put in extra hours for free every day.
You can only squeeze so much work out of people before things slip through the cracks.

She grew up in the northern suburbs
And when she was in HS Pierre Pilote rented a house the next block over, and she would babysit for their kids if his wife Annie went to the games.
Hence, a Blackhawk fan. She left the team after Wirtz drove off everyone, and when she moved to Michigan she started following the Wings (who were very bad at the time).
She mostly cheers for the Wings, but was glad to see Chicago win last year because she had friends who had been waiting decades for that to happen again.

There are SEVERAL (mostly annoying anyway) girls on Twitter...
That have secret accounts, with locked tweets, and require an invite for people to follow them (because, obviously, their shit is WAY important). They use those accounts to basically talk shit about people who have unfollowed their main account (on account of them being fucking annoying anyway).

And the winner for "Most Blunt Comment" goes to....

There's a difference.
I understand the need for some folks to protect their tweets, and it’s 100% allowed. But there’s no secret that it’s you behind that lock and you’re not saying anything that wouldn’t be afraid to say had they not been protected.

Just checking.
If nobody had said anything after that first tweet I would’ve shut up so I wanted to make sure you saw it.
I liked him too. He’s going to be (already is at WCHA level) an impressive player, I think.
Yup.
I like the track he’s taking… he’ll be a slow-pro. USHL, then collegiate, then probably the AHL before the NHL. Just like my buddy Dave Moss who is a MORE than capable NHLer, but took a while to get there.
by Michael Petrella on Dec 6, 2010 8:45 PM CST up reply actions
The difference in talent that was apparent (disclaimer: I'm a Tech fan. Talent is rare) was amazing. He was so noticeable out there.
One of the few players I could instantly pick out on the ice without having to look at a number.
What people don't know about hockey is this:
The jump in talent between the ranks is ABSURD.
I.E. the lowest rung NHLer is STILL significantly better than the top AHLer.
AHL > College.
College > USHL.
And so on…
When a player like Michael Nylander get sent down to the AHL, it’s not even fair. The game comes so easily to them, in comparison, and the gap in talent is just ridiculous. He’s going to be a big fish in a medium sized pond, and that bodes VERY well for the next level up.
by Michael Petrella on Dec 6, 2010 8:49 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
Another example
I played collegiate hockey, in Division II. It’s very good hockey… filled with very good hockey players (NATCH). We played one pair of games against a D-III team, and a pair of games against a D-I team.
We kicked the everloving HELL out of the D-III team. As in, it wasn’t even fun. The final scores were like 14-1 and 16-0 or something (Guess who STILL didn’t score!)
In the D-I games, we got ROCKED, nearly laughed off of the ice. There’s a reason people play at certain levels and why the games are (usually) closely contested. It takes twenty years of evaluation to know where you fall, and you’ll never be satisfied being lower than where you belong.
A guy like me? I almost did fucking backflips to make the D-II team. I was not recruited. I was given up on, mostly because of my size, and I had pissed away so many opportunities that I was — in no way — “above” playing an “inferior” hockey.
by Michael Petrella on Dec 6, 2010 8:53 PM CST up reply actions
Amen
My in-laws have season tickets to the local AHL team, and a few years ago, I went to one of their games and the next night went to see the Hawks. The biggest difference is the speed; the AHL guys just can’t keep up at the NHL level.
Not even close.
And there’s two things that happen to guys on the cusp:
A) They get called up, thrive with the opportunity, and don’t go back down. See: Helm, Darren.
B) They get called up, struggle a bit, go back down and TEAR THE ROOF OFF.
There’s RARELY an in between.

Wings look out of sorts for some reason.
Jet lag catching up to them? Or something?
I don’t think they’re going to make a comeback. Oh please, prove me wrong.
probably
They flew in late and San Jose was waiting for them.

Are you guys hearing a clanking noise? Is it common to hear it on TV for games at the Joe?
Randy: "So head butting... better than butt patting"
Drew: "Well keep an eye if there's butt patting"
It's the Versus microphones
Jimmy Howard hits the posts with his stick to check his angles when the puck is coming back toward the Wings’ end. Versus constantly has mics that pick that noise up. It’s goddamn annoying.

Jimmy Howard taps the posts a lot
And the mics pick it up really well.

Not making excuses
Because the Wings have played like shit for the last 30 minutes.
But how big is that quick-whistle no-goal?

momentum changer, alas

No shit.
There aren’t enough goals in a game to call back the ones that are actually good. They gotta let those plays go, they can always say there was intent to blow if it really does take awhile for the play to happen, but we’re getting screwed cause the refs are calling the play the second it hits the goalie.
This would be only the second time the Wings have lost two consecutive games this season
first time was early on, and the second loss was after a shoot out loss.
still, I refuse to believe the game is over.
shorty?
well on another nother
i request a picture of a shark being kronwalled!
ah well
can’t win them all…looks like the Sharkies will get themselves a huge win tonight

i love how the Sharks are still trying hard to score
we took the foot off the pedal in the game last week when it got to 5-2 lol

As a Wing fan, I have no problems with this
The Wings are still trying to come back, and have the offense to get it done. It’s up to the Wings to stop them from scoring.
This is a big game for us though
Plus it’s only a 3 goal difference.
And tbh, I don’t think we have control over that foot (on the pedal) this season.

I'm nominating Rafalski
Two assists and I don’t remember getting pissed at him all game long.
He might not have played great, but everybody sucked.
Either Rafalski or Salei

If even the Man on Fire can't score that
you know it ain’t our night
I'm expecting 100% improvement from the Lions this season.
Sorry, you don't get Jasmines tonight...
But Loss Candy will be up at TPL as soon as the horn blows.

Good game guys
It’s always a big game when we play you guys. Especially at the Joe. Huge win for us. It was rather fun hanging out with you good chaps. Good luck to you guys… see you later this season. And as always:
Stay classy…

hahaha I love this. Great game Detroit, we needed the win more than you anyways :)

note
Still have just 5 regulation losses, and the next fewest number is 7.
Can’t win them all, and they were due for their 5th loss at some point.

Night, Casey!
I suppose I should just go ahead and order another shirt as long as my computer is on. I nearly have my credit card number memorized after all the online shopping I’ve done this week.
