Emotion from Jimmy Howard, I am truly amazed. Normally he’s very (to steal another players nickname) vanilla about things.

by crperreau on Feb 11, 2010 9:45 PM CST reply actions

was he ticked? upset?

Better not be crying. He has nothing to be that sad about.

(I can’t watch postgame after a loss. I’ll watch the game, but not the immediate postmortem.)

"While there's life, there's hope." --Cicero

by Baroque on Feb 11, 2010 9:47 PM CST up reply actions

Seemed kind of resigned, but ticked off at the same time actually. They asked him if he was sick of shootouts, and he’s like “UGH yeah, it’s kind of comical, but I am getting tired of them” normally he’s just “oh, yeah, it was nice, haha”.
I love the postgame, especially when they win. Even losses are interesting though.

by crperreau on Feb 11, 2010 9:50 PM CST up reply actions

And no he wasn’t crying, lol. Did you see the ’Canes young netminder after he won? Now that was crying.

by crperreau on Feb 11, 2010 9:50 PM CST up reply actions

He doesn’t strike me as the crying type, actually – some guys it wouldn’t surprise me, just because they are so open about all their emotions, but he seems very controlled. I could see his eyes tearing up if he was extremely upset, but he’d cry behind closed doors.

He’s older, though, too – when a really young kid, college age or so, cries, it doesn’t surprise me – it’s an emotional few years even without the turmoil of a hockey game going on, and strong emotions take a few years to master.

"While there's life, there's hope." --Cicero

I meant Howard

Yes, I saw the winning goaltender. Waterworks galore. :)

"While there's life, there's hope." --Cicero

by Baroque on Feb 11, 2010 9:57 PM CST up reply actions

The ‘Canes netminder just made me feel happy for him, really. Better to cry for a win than a loss. And yeah, I can see Howard getting a little teary eyed behind closed doors, never in public. It’s kind of what I meant by him being “vanilla”, he doesn’t seem the type to show a ton of emotion over anything.
The crying that really upset me was when they showed the University of Miami Ohio’s hockey team crying at Brendan Burkes funeral-that made me get teary eyed myself.

by crperreau on Feb 11, 2010 10:01 PM CST up reply actions

I think it’s sweet when someone cries with joy – at a happy moment like that it’s right to have emotions spill over. That I think of as tears that should be shared.

I don’t like seeing someone cry when they are upset, because it seems so intrusive. I know they just want to be left alone then, and aren’t allowed to be.

"While there's life, there's hope." --Cicero

by Baroque on Feb 11, 2010 10:04 PM CST up reply actions

That’s when I get the please, just leave them alone! feeling. Because I know that when I cry, I certainly would not want a camera or a person who doesn’t really care about me in my face.
