Franzen In, Holmstrom out for Olympics
Looks like Tomas Holmstrom's sore knee will keep him out of the Olympics and Red Wings teaJohan Franzen will replace him in the line-up.
Two good things about this:
1. Holmstrom, with his injury history, will be able to fully heal.
2. Franzen can get his scoring back on track following his injury with no consequence to the Wings winning/losing points.

Feel kind of bad for Homer, can’t be fun to have to withdraw, but
better for him and Mule in the long run. And Mule will get to go, which he obviously wanted.

so it's like a conditioning assignment for the Mule....just against the best in the world
The analogy would have worked better if he hadn’t played the last few games, but it still holds…he’s going to get the chance to get any residual rust off his skates (so to speak), and may be at full strength and skill when the NHL resumes play. Good deal, I say.

the olympics are definitely going to help the mule get his touch back to 100%. although he scored 2 goals in the last 3 games, the wings will need him to be much stronger in the last quarter of the season as the wings are on the brink of not heading to the playoffs since the late 80s

Psyched!
While I am not sure about the NHL playing in the Olympics, I think it will help the Wings get back on track this year and turn on the heat when it comes to playoff time. I’ll take any bone they can throw us right now!
