Wings too tentative?
...or does it seem like the Wings on a whole seem to avoid finishing checks. Beyond Darren Helm and for the most part Brad Stuart, it almost seems like the Wings are for lack of a better word, "afraid" to finish checks or make contact.
It may just be the fear of Jobu, but this year has seemed pretty disappointing in that regard. Maybe that's why the big hits...when they DO come...seem that much more impressive. It may just be Babcock's style, but if it is, it's a recent decision.
I'm one of those people that like to watch alot of the action away from the puck..I suppose I'd make a terrible ref because of it. Anyways, just watch the game tonight and keep that in the back of your mind. Watch as Blues players pass and our checkers peel off but then watch as Wings players pass and have to duck and cover.
Now granted, I can see the advantage of peeling off and pursuing the puck, but having played a limited amount of hockey and watching my fair share, I've seen that players who have that nagging dread of getting smoked if they hold the puck too long tend to rush their passes.
Anyways...done ranting. Just had to get that off my chest.

i agree actually
they seem to be very hesitant at times and are no longer dominant like they used to be.
