NHL ( inept ) officiating
What's with these ridiculous calls against Thomas Holmstrom? Does the screwed up, Bettman run, NHL ever scrutinize and discipline incompetent officiating? With all these phantom calls in today's NHL, players like Holmstrom make "baby boomer fans" long for the days of the 70's, when hockey was a MAN'S game....not this sissified and ruinous, no check, cycling game of today where composite sticks that break when touched are automatic slashing penalties. Why is it a penalty when one knocks the stick out of the other players hands? Shit, it should be a penalty on the guy who can't hold on to his stick! ....Go back and watch the NHL of the 70's when refs used to talk to the players and warn them before calling anything, and every penalty wasn't " hooking " ! This is what happens when the NHL commissioner is a guy who has NEVER put on a pair of skates, or played in a game of shinny on the lake. In spite of the entertaining Olympics and it's TV ratings, I, personally, long for the NHL of " OLD". And am quite aware of the subjectivity of this rant.

Officiating Conference
I think it happened a couple years ago with the NBA-NHL referee exchange program happened.
I have a feeling
The calls are just going to get more ridiculous. Does kerry fraser remind anyone else of referee hannah off of the 1986 hockey movie youngblood? If you are a hockey fan and havent seen youngblood then that a whole other issue.
After watching Youngblood, I’m actually kind of embarassed to be a hockey fan. That movie was so far from real hockey it was nauseating. Maybe it showed what the life of a hockey player in juniors was like, but obviously was written by someone who had no clue what a game of hockey actually looked like. I mean c’mon… a “sword fight” with hockey sticks at the end of the movie. Seriously????
hahahahahaha
I never once said the movie was good… it is your stereotypical cheesy 80’s movie. I cant help but think about the sword fight… that was hilarious. Thats quality 80’s entertainment.
