Pre-game notes: Eaves out, starting goalies, etc.
Patrick Eaves will be out of the line-up tonight following a hit to the head in the loss to Edmonton. Eaves is definitely out but the more surprising thing is who might be in for him. Jonathan Ericsson, according to Ansar Khan, might be filling in for Eaves as a forward. Many know that Ericsson started originally as a forward before transitioning to defense. Who knows, what if it turns into a huge bonus and he is great? I doubt it, but you never know.
Calgary won last night against San Jose (of course) so even with a point from the tie, the Wings are tied in points but ahead in the standings by way of the number of games played.
Roberto Luongo will start for the Canucks tonight. Luongo has a 37-19-2 record with a 2.45 GAA.
Jimmy Howard will start his 18th straight game in net for the Red Wings. He didn't get much support from the Detroit offense last night and he'll need much more support tonight against a tough Vancouver team.

Now I'm really looking forward to the game, maybe the Rig will pull something together and look a little better at forward. Which isn't saying much

I really, really really really really
and I can’t say it enough, really freaking hope that Ericsson plays better at forward than he does on defense.
Glad Lebda-Lilja are reunited. Stop messing with a good thing.

Hi guys…just asking as a fan of the other team. I see Jimmy is starting again, and he is obviously the #1 now, but has Babcock totally lost all confidence in Ozzy? B2B with travel, and no Ozzy even thought of?
I thought he had won a Cup or two in the last few years…?
BTW…who had Northern Iowa? ;-)

i think he still has confidence in ozzy
but its obvious jimmy gives us the best opportunity to win. howard isnt as bad as a lot of people think. he is in the top 10 in goals against and save %. he does need to work on his rebounding a little but if anything its been the defense that has hurt him.
and i had kentucky winning it….against kansas :(

Being from the Northwest, I am a Washington fan, I had them going to the Elite 8, but would love if they went farther…I had Kansas and Kentucky too….I think.
I know Howard is good, he is getting some talk for the Rookie Award.
Just that I have never seen a goalie like Ozzy. All that playoff success, and he makes …what…2 mil?
