Around SBN: How The Kings Beat The Coyotes: Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Overflow thread: game 2

The Wings have scored 3 goals in every game of the series thus far. Tomas Holmstrom deflected a puck in with his skate for the first goal, Dan Cleary scored on a onetimer from the faceoff circle area and Henrik Zetterberg banked a pass off a Shark and past Nabokov for the third goal.

I want to see the Habs tie this up...

But I REALLY need to see them win it in regulation so effing VS switches to the game that matters.

Sometimes it sucks being a Wings fan in Wisconsin where I don’t have the option of watching the local broadcast.

GF was over and have been watching the game while she was on internet. Looking good, minus the penalties tonight guys. Could easily be 5-0, but I’ll take 3-1. Howie looks good other than his brain fart at the end of the first, and Zetterberg never ceast to amaze me.

But at this point all the shit called against the wings the 22PK’s in 3games (so far) the called back goal. I’ve just gotten to the point were I expect this shit to happen. I’m just happy in the fact if wings do lose this series I’m done with hockey for a good long while.

Pathetic defense attempt by Rafalski on that 2 on 1.

You have to get down and block that pass and force Thornton to shoot. Also, Pathetic defense by Ericsson in just letting Couture take that wide angle shot to tie it. Pathetic goaltending on the first and third goals. Good job Wings, outplayed them… but found a way to lose again. This is midseason all over again. Also another flop by Naflopkov. Not as many bad calls, but I really find it hard to believe that the Sharks couldn’t have been called for more than 2 penalties. The problem is that the Wings aren’t falling. 2 full power plays in 2 games. Something isn’t right.

by dewman8810 on May 4, 2010 9:48 PM CDT reply actions

i don't think that had anything to do with it tonight.

we gave up 2 in the 3rd. one was a terrible goal that any goalie should save- jimmy played it like rec league goalie. he needs to step it up and be solid for an entire game.

no

It’s just an additional load of bullshit from a bullshit league.

I'm simply at a loss

I break out the jersey for Game 4 as all my superstitions are sucking it big time. I will not drink a beer every period, I will not stand for the whole game,

by Elfuego51 on May 4, 2010 9:52 PM CDT reply actions

This Sucked

As much as I disliked the reffing for most of Game 2, some of Game 1. The sharks won more on our inability to defend ourselves when we needed it most. Congrats to the Sharks. Unless a miracle happens, we might actually be going for San Jose if Chicago advances or we will care less/go for the Canucks if they advance

HAHAHA CALLED IT

I hate to say “I told you so” but we’re getting swept, fellas.

One thing for the Sharks...

If they make it to the finals at last (and they’ve had the talent to do it for years), they god damned better destroy the freaking Penguins. I want to see little defeathered bird bodies dangling from the bridges of Pittsburgh after they finish with them.

Otherwise what freaking use is the entire damned team. Unless Robert Ballard is hiring for a new expedition.

cant agree

I can only root for teams who arrive to the Final on their own merits, and SJS had games 1 and 2 pretty much gift-wrapped for them. Sorry, but I can’t root for a team for which penalties was a larger factor than talent. I’m not saying San Jose doesn’t have talent, but I’ll be damned if they’ve had to put it to much use.

hold that in reserve

Maybe see how they deal with Vancouver or Chicago? They might earn something there.

I'd actually root for the Blackhawks against the Sharks and Pens.

The Blackhawks don’t mistake the sport for an Olympic diving exhibition.

by rook34 on May 4, 2010 10:12 PM CDT up reply actions

I would for sure

I’m just not sure their goaltending will hold up. If it does, I like their style and I like a lot of their players.

I'm the most Pesstimistic person

But this is a god damn 7 game series u just need 1 win before it turns into 4. If any team in any sport could do it these guys can, so until the final whistle blows and all is said and done I still think wings win it in 7.

The sharks won’t advance this series is just started. Wishful thinking or not but until I’m proven wrong it’s my point of view

by Rwings on May 4, 2010 10:13 PM CDT reply actions

I may feel the same later on

Just not right now. I’ve been watching for years and every playoff loss hurts to the core. :(

Then you're not pessimistic

Or even realistic. you’re in denial.

I wouldn't mind someone Clauding Jumbo Joe.

Overrated player, tremendous waste of talent. Don’t want to see his name on the Cup.

No, just bitter.

Thornton has been an overrated choke artist since his days in Boston, and he’s arrogant for no reason.

by rook34 on May 4, 2010 10:27 PM CDT up reply actions

If you knew the first thing about Joe, you’d know he’s the least arrogant guy out there. Seriously, other criticisms I can understand, but the dude isn’t arrogant at all.

Also, choke artist? Let me just take a quick look at tonight’s box score…

Everyone lucks into a good one every now and then.

Ten years of gagging doesn’t get erased with one good series.

And yes, he’s an arrogant jackass and has been since he came up.

by rook34 on May 4, 2010 10:48 PM CDT up reply actions

I suppose

We should just be happy about the Wings second-half run and keeping the 100 point+ and playoff streaks alive

by greg5897 on May 4, 2010 10:26 PM CDT reply actions

I'm sure after the season is over we will be

Considering that in January we were thinking the team might be in the mix for a lottery pick as badly as they were doing. Just while the season is still hanging on by a thread it’s hard not to think that way when you want the team to win.

Suddenly...

…my preseason Stanley Cup winner pick, San Jose, looks to be really smart right now. I thought this would be teh year they break through in the playoffs, because I mean if you’re a top 5 regular season team for like 5 straight years you’re bound to make it to the Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Finals at some point. But it sucks, because I had hoped I was really really wrong about that.

Alas, I hope I am still wrong about that. And hey, it would be cool if the Wings made history here.

Think positive…one win at a time…think positive….
