Lidstrom to return to Red Wings for 1-yr deal
Sources put Nicklas Lidstrom returning for at least one more year in Detroit. Is it a farewell tour? Possibly. Is it welcomed news? You bet.
Will post more on this later, doctor's appointment then I have to drive for a bit.

sidenote: Trade Jimenez to the Sox, please? That ERA is ridiculous.

Lidstrom to Return to Wings via DetNews.com
Wings officials will announce later today Lidstrom has agreed to a one-year deal. The exact amount was unknown, but it is believed to be near $6 million.
I read $6.2M
Pretty much what I predicted ($6M). If the cap goes up to $58M, as Bettman suggested it might, Holland should be able to free up to $3M to try to draw Drake out of retirement (which is what I assume he meant with his talk about a fourth liner he’s looking for).
awesome
I hear he’s taking a lil less too stay. Maybe Kenny can play a lil bit in FA as well
In life, a man is either the hammer or the anvil. Ndamukong Suh is both
Glad news for a fake Monday
This Tuesday is being as annoying as Mondays usually are…so a little smile on my face, as created by this news, isn’t an unwelcome development.

Oh good.
I wasn’t ready to cope with Lidstrom retiring. What happens to the Wings once he retires? At least we have one more year to prepare for that possibility. And I think the Wings got one more long cup run with Lidstrom on it in them.
A guy at work went running into every lab today and yelled that Lidstrom was coming back. Every time he did, you would hear a loud cheer and clapping.
I hope Datsyuk and Zetterberg are ready. They are going to be following in the foot steps of two of the greatest players to ever play the game when Lidstrom retires and one of them is named captain. Anyone want to start taking bets on who it will be? I’m curious to see what people think about that.

A better question is who gets the new “A” (plural?)
A few people have suggested Helm. A couple other possibilities are Kronwall and Franzen.
