Yahoo's Red Wing Fantasy Rankings suck...
Seriously. Datsyuk is tops and he is only #17. They have Steve Freaking Stamkos ranked higher than the reigning MVP and the last three Conn Smythe winners. Howard is ranked 38 spots higher than Lidstrom. Zetterberg is 2 lower than Howard even. The bad Sedin twin is ranked in the top 10. Toews is only 21 (we may hate Chicago, but you cannot deny that Toews is an amazing talent).
That list just pisses me off.

The wonders of making your own pre-draft
The rankings do suck, plus I hate Shitsburgh and Anaheim so much i leave every player listed in the top 100-500 off my list that plays for either of those cities. And I have won the league in 07,and was top 5 of 12 last year employing this policy. Oh and Luongo can rot in hell,Howard got me better numbers last year. Suck it Vancouver.
Howard won’t this year. If he’s not a Vezina finalist, he’ll actually hurt you in the long run, I think.

yaho is dumb
what did u exspect
The Red Wings will come back stronger
RESTORE THE ROAR 2010 Detroit Lions
Oh the irony of calling someone dumb and not spelling their name right and placing an s in expect.
Either way, if I do fantasy this year, looks like it is ESPN for me. These rankings are horrible. Of course… it would mean major points if you pick up Lidstrom in the 4th or 5th round and he does his usual.

I just signed up to be put in a league on Yahoo
and I did what Jimbo5203 does. There were a number of players that I exclude for various reasons and I’ve already started that list. But I also agree that the ranking of some of the Wings is really, really off.
I’ve also pulled from the top 500 players a number of players that I would like to think about drafting. I haven’t completed my ranking yet but you can be sure that Mr. Zetterberg will be #1 on my list.
Motown League?
New around here…do you guys do a league for WIM readers usually? Anyone interested?
Don't know how to set one up, but
I’d be interested in participating. It could get interesting as far as dividing up Red Wings. But I’d like to think that everyone would be reasonable and willing to “spread the wealth.”
Honestly, I think it’ll be the ones who don’t draft Wings that win. Everyone will try to get Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Howard, Lidstrom, etc. in the first round leaving people like Ovechkin, Sedin, Miller, Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, etc. available maybe into the second round. I’d be more than happy to draft Miller and Ovechkin with my first two picks.

I'd start one up
if enough interest is garnered

I've never...
set up a league so if Casey is willing to set it up I say let’s go for it. Maybe it’s own post will draw some interest.
Looking at last year’s stats alone, Datsyuk and Zetterberg didn’t have great stat years and shouldn’t be ranked in the top 10. Jonathan Toews has never had a 70 point season. Sure he is good, but hasn’t really shown himself to be even a top ten player as far as production goes. He’s a good leader, but that doesn’t help the fantasy stats. Howard is a #1 goalie on a good team, Nicklas Lidstrom’s production is waning slightly.
Of course Stamkos will be ranked high. He had a 50 goal season with most of them being power play goals. That’s a lot of fantasy points.
Fantasy stats are based on one thing, fantasy points. The Wings have never been that great for producing fantasy league beasts. Most winning teams spread talent out, and the middle teams have the one big guy.
Give me real team success over fantasy team success for the Wings anyday.
