WIM Fantasy Hockey League?
Hey everyone, this is just a quick post seeing how many people would be interested in participating in a Winging It In Motown Fantasy Hockey League. A comment in a FanPost brought the idea to my attention so I thought I'd push the idea to you guys and see how much interest there is.
If there's enough interest we could even have multiple leagues. So here's some basics of what I'm thinking right now. Keep in mind this won't be set in stone quite yet, just a way of gauging interest. Have I used the word "interest" enough for you yet? Interest.
- It will be free to play
- The winner will get a $50 gift card to the NHL online shop
- Second place team will get a $20 gift card to the NHL online shop
- If there's multiple leagues, the prizes will be adjusted--I'm a college student, remember
Comment below if you're interested, I think doing a poll would overexaggerate the actual interest. Also, in the comments leave suggestions for the best place to hold the league (Yahoo!, ESPN, etc.) as I haven't played in a long time and you all may be more up to speed than I on that stuff.

I’m in. I say we pick the one who did the Wings the most justice with their rankings.

I’d be interested. I am just getting back into fantasy hockey this year. I know Yahoo is pretty good, but I’m not really familiar with the other ones

I’d love to. Either ESPN or Yahoo are decent.

I am interested. Yahoo is probably the one im most comfortable with. do we even really need the prizes (trying to save you some cash here :) )
Definitely interested. If we have prizes for winning, that’s cool, but not really necessary as far as I am concerned. The only league I am familiar with is Yahoo, but am open to whatever league is chosen.

Count me in
Played on yahoo last year and really enjoyed it, but would be up for ESPN too. Either way, I’m in.
Played baseball
on ESPN and it is going pretty well. Haven’t used yahoo before.
I'd join
I’ve only read WIM, so this is my first comment, but I’d join the league. My preference would be yahoo but it doesn’t really matter.
Don't mind the name
I’m a long-time reader, first-time poster who loves the Wings and would also love to participate in a WIIM fantasy league. Count me in!

Same thing Giberson and NJBIllsfan said
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. Never played fantasy before but I’ve been looking for an excuse.
Love it!!!!!
Hard to imagine how many leagues we would need though…. I’ve only played Yahoo before and its user-friendly. I’m open to anything, but maybe TSN is the best, the Canadians always have waaaayyyy better coverage of hockey than Yahoo, ESPN, SI, SportingNews combined.
I'd be interested
I’ve preferred the Yahoo leagues in my experience.
Fur shur
I’d recommend ESPN.
You can +2 for interest for me and gf
I'm in
And I think ESPN looks better

Count me in.
I played for the first time last year with some other Wings fans on Yahoo and had a blast. Of course, winning the playoffs didn’t hurt either! I’ve already signed up for a team on Yahoo but am interested in trying a second one. I’ll go with the majority, but I’m most familiar with Yahoo.
Oh, and one other thing
As far as I’m concerned, no prizes are necessary. The thrill of the competition is what I enjoy and being able to interact with fellow Wings fans is an added bonus.
Good call
Count me in as a yes, that is if there’s still room. Yahoo! seems to have a better format than ESPN, only because ESPN devotes very little to their fantasy hockey. Football and baseball are the gods over there for fantasy.
Oh
Yahoo! has added hits and shot blocks this year as categories in head-to-head, something I’ve been wanting them to do for years.
Justin Abdelkader just shot up the rankings for a lot of Wing fans because of this

Thanks for the info
I must have missed that. I may have to update my player rankings for the draft with that in mind.
It's optional of course
We would get to choose whether to include hits and shot blocks as categories, if that is the way the scoring was organized.
Hits and blocks are under the “New Custom League Settings.” http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/hockey/features?lid=16105
Love the idea
I’m in. I like Yahoo’s system.
Love it.
ESPN looks a lot better with lots of Flash, and I prefer that over Yahoo!. However both are effective and I’m fine with both.
Flash makes baby Jesus cry
Much rather have Yahoo just because of that.

Yahoo
I have used the Yahoo one the last 4 years, would it be a live draft?
I've never done Fantasy Hockey
But I’d definitely be interested in giving it a whirl. I know that my experiences with Fantasy Football on ESPN have been far and away better than those with Fantasy Baseball on Yahoo.
