I apologize for being late on this topic but I work third shift right now so I always DVR the games and watch them a day late, then comment about things that are 24 hours old in the middle of the night at work when no one else is up. Does that make me a troll? Kinda sucks, but I digress.
Watching the Tampa game was a thrill. Great effort by both teams and I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but Jimmy Fucking Howard is an absolute animal right now!!!! Granted, I don't watch many other teams so I have little frame of reference, but he has got to be playing as good or better than anyone in the league right now. Regardless of his numbers (which are also great), he is just always in the right position and is seeing the puck unbelievably well. Other than his brain fart pass against Boston, it's been awhile since his last blatent "miss". Forget the AS game, Tiberius For Vezina!!!!! Keep it up Jim!!!
Also, I'm really starting to think this team has "IT", whatever "IT" is. I get really excited about all this trade talk but am a little apprehensive about screwing with the chemistry right now. I know I wouldn't be so high on everything if we weren't on a helluva streak at the moment, but if this is the level of play that this team is capable of sustaining for extended periods then I feel very confident about our chances. I mean, that third goal against the bolts had to be one of the sickest displays of passing, pure vision and talent that I can recall. I was having Russian 5 flashbacks. How the hell do you defend that? Answer: A Chuck Norris Roundhouse Kick is the only way.
Now to bring my head out of the clouds. Does everyone really think we need to add a piece or two right now? Just because we have the cap space doesn't mean we need to let it burn a hole in our pocket. I would obviously love to get a Ryan, Parise or even Iginla but not at the price that their teams will want. We have a great team as is and I would feel much more comfortable dealing with free agents in the summer. There's going to be a nice crop of young FA forwards and defensmen this summer. I kind of hope Kenny holds his cards so we don't have to give up anything but money. I think this will likely be the case since I'm sure Kenny won't give what the teams in question will undoubtedly demand. He's never been one for blockbuster trades besides the Shanahan deal and that was pre-cap. He has done an amazing job at putting us in the financial position we're in and still icing a cup caliber team. Speculation is fun but I won't even try to understand what's going on in his head. Blind faith.
Also, where does everyone else think we're at as a team? It's hard to be negative while we're winning every night so maybe there's some things to be concerned about that I'm missing. Even during the streak that I will only refer to as "The Dark Time", I still thought we were playing decent hockey. It was mostly puck luck IMO, or lack thereof. Thanks for reading and I'll let you all bring me back down to earth now.
