Listen to this quote my friend said about the Wings.

My friend, who is an avalanche fan, has alot of respect for the red wings. But there is one quote he says about Todd Bertuzzi. When i asked him, do you think the red wings will win the cup this year? Before getting to his answer, he is an absolute hockey freak. He knows every single stat for avalanche player and has alot of knowledge from the past and present. He said that he doesn't think the wings will win the cup nor any team from the westerm conference. He said that this is because every single playoff series in the west will go at least 6 games. Even the 1 seed vs. 8 seed and then the semifinals and conference finals will go 7 games. By the time its Stanley Cup time, the team that came out of the west is gonna be dead tired. This Western Conference is amazingly tough. When saying who will win the western conference finals, you can't simply pick wings, canucks, sharks. Other teams are good enough to be there as well in western conference compared to the eastern.

Oh and one more thing why my friend said wings wont win cup is simply this:

"God will never give Todd Bertuzzi a Cup. That **** shouldn't be playing hockey and he deserves no Cup."

Your friend isn't wrong about everything

I think that the toughness of the Western Conference playoffs can very well act as an equalizer. I think the Flyers (despite their current woes) match up well against a Western club who has had to fight and claw through three grueling rounds while they get at least one round with a guaranteed cupcake (pretty much any team that comes out of the East will have this – the disparity between the Eastern “elite” and the Eastern “also-rans” is much, much wider than the difference between West “elite” and West “also-rans”).

As for God punishing Bertuzzi? I don’t think so. God is not an Avalanche fan. If he were, he wouldn’t have destroyed Forsberg’s foot.

If God were an Avs fan

The Wings would never have won Game 7 – and chased Waaaaaahhhhhh (after 6), 7-0.

His Bertuzzi quote also ignores the 4 Avalanche players that jumped onto Moore’s back after he hit the ice.

This is still an extremely sore point for Avs fans

No matter where I go, if I’m talking to Avs fans, they invariably bring up Todd Bertuzzi. Obviously I don’t condone what happened, but Colorado fans seriously need to move on. It’s almost a pathology for them, just like we as Detroit fans are convinced the refs are out to get us and our team gets no press coverage. The key difference is that we get our gripes reinforced nightly, whereas Avs fans are still bitter about things that happened during the Bush administration.

I was going to say Chris Pronger

There’s several hockey players who disgrace the sport, but they win cups. Todd Bertuzzi served his time, and has done his best to put that incident behind him. I can understand the sentiment from Avs fans, but I honestly think the bad karma surrounding him is finally gone (or as gone as it’s gonna be). I mean, he was an injured mess for many seasons following the Moore incident, and it really did curse the teams he played for from winning the cup (Wings 2007, anyone?). But I don’t get that feeling anymore.

yea and i reminded him of a couple of things

I told him speaking of Bertuzzi, do u still remember the turtle and his cheap shot and draper. I hate that guy with a passion. I thank McCarty for every beating he gave him. Also, I told him that even though Bertuzzi hit Moore, avs jumped all around him beat him up and he got his punishment. Also, the turtle got his punishment as well as beatings from mccarty

Just ask your friend when his team plans on winning a cup again

Bertuzzi or not, there’s no way the Avs get another before we bring home #12.

2 words...

“AV’s fan”

…Enough said.

Not to mention… was he alive for our past 4 Cups? Might want to check the roster and ages for those wins. This sure ain’t our first (grey haired) rodeo.

2002 was the oldest roster I can remember that won a cup. Hardly any youngsters at all. Factor in Scotty and Chelios each weighing in at 90 and you have a sure fire oldest champ ever.

I’m pretty sure that no matter which God you believe in, they have bigger things to worry about than hockey.

When are they going to put up your statue?

Hopefully never. I’d rather see the money go towards actually cleaning up the city.

If we have to build a statue of a Detroit movie character, I’d rather see Walt Kowalski up there.

Bitter

Sounds like your boy is bitter that his once great Avalanche have sunk to the bottom of the conference. Its a shame, I still get hyped for wings avs games. I was at the very first Wings-Avs game at The Joe when Stevie got his 500th
