Eulogy for the Blackhawks
I'm sure many of us here at WIIM deeply regret the loss of our little brother. To be taken away from us after a mere 2 years of relevancy - why's hockey so unfair?! Truth be told, Chicago and their fancy goal song and their creative chants probably come back strong next year, but before the 2nd round gets underway, I'm all for taking in their delicious tears. As said in the 2nd round preview, we don't need to be posting on their website, but I welcome any thoughts you might have here. I'm pretty sure they are frequent visitors here; after all, this is the best site for fans with Stanley Cup winning teams.

Good night, you half-formed cretinous team
It’s not your fault, really, Chicago. You were told that the “core” was the important thing and that ,without half of your cup-winning roster and a lot of the heart-and-soul guys, you could still compete. By the time the Canucks realized that the playoffs are harder than blowing through the Pacific Division with ease, they had done you an even greater disservice than Dale Tallon had before he left to rebuild the Thrashers:
They left you with the hope that a team built on moxie, determination, and guys like Nick Leddy carrying large chunks of ice time could pull off the miracle and make it back to the promised land.
When the cap goes up next season and you’re given wee bit of breathing room to decide whether you want to try to get an NHL-caliber defenseman for your third pairing or a third-liner who can consistently play like he might belong on another NHL team’s 2nd line rather than looking like he’d be more comfortable as an OHL top-six man, take heart in knowing that you’ll be slightly less prone to the dangers that a lack of depth brings. (Hey, I hear that Jonathan Ericsson is going to be a free agent this summer. Why not throw $2M per season at him?)
Then despair because you know you’re stuck with Quenneville.

Canucks-Pacific Division? Tallon with the Thrashers?
an otherwise great post, but the Canucks are in the Northwest with Edmonton and Colorado, and Tallon’s rebuilding the Panthers. i know it’s not worth it to pay much attention to the goings-on of teams high on the list of relocation/ contraction, but still.
accuracy not that important
on this great day

some of my favorite comments from blackhawks fans
I think my favorite comments are the “well, we were the 8th seed, so VAN shouldn’t have needed 7 games”
what are they trying to say? that they suck and barely deserved to make the playoffs? that it’s some moral victory to almost get out of the first round? in their defense, they aren’t used to winning cups.
pretty sure red wings fans have expected to win every game since 1994 (right or wrong!)
I kind of like those comments. Very “from hell’s heart, I stab at thee” kind of anger.

Like this guy?

Think about how stupid the average person is, and then realize that half of them are even stupider! --George Carlin
Kinda like
Well, we lasted two games longer than New York, and three games longer than Phoenix.
Like any of that matters….
