I feel that there is no doubt that Jimmy Howard is the wings goalie for a couple years now. I'm not completely sure about our backup at the moment, but i think the Macdonald played good for the few games he played. Also Osgood will probably retire which is a decision i would agree with. Ozzy has had a spectacular career achieving 3 Stanley cup victories but i do think it is his time to go. During the post season i don't think Howard had one moment where he played bad. He was giving 110%, 100% of the time. Jimmy looked like he really wanted to win it all and played that way. If we can stay away from injuries with him then we will have solid goaltending. A problem i see is that if the red wings don't become a serious Stanley cup contender then Howard may consider joining another team, leaving us with Joey Macdonald as a starter. I do not think that is a situation that Holland wants to address anytime soon. On the other hand if we become a team that shows up for every game and become a team that is a favored cup winner every year then all the right things will fall into place from there. Most importantly if we have a good offense & defense to back up Howard, then around this time next year we will be watching the wings in the conference finals
