A 2011-2012 Red Wings dream roster
Looking at the current Red Wings roster as it stands after the first day of free agency and the free agents still available, I really just see one glaring void to fill. And that's in the center spot. Since Red Wings have plenty of cap space to play for a top center, I would love to see that someone be Brad Richards. Consider this lineup:
ZETTERBERG(LW) - DATSYUK(C) - FRANZEN(RW)
HOLMSTROM(LW) - RICHARDS(C) - BERTUZZI(RW)
ABDELKADER(LW) - FIPPULA(C) - CLEARY(RW)
MILLER(LW) - HELM(C) - EAVES(RW)
LIDSTROM - KRONWALL
ERICSSON - STUART
KINDL - COMMODORE
I look at this lineup and I see a cup winning bunch. Obviously Happy Hudler is the person missing from this picture. I've always liked Hudler, but I am afraid he's the weakest link in his position at the moment. No rumors have surfaced whether or not Red Wings GM Ken Holland is courting Richards, however this would be a very exciting scenario. We will soon know.

well holland better send someone to toronto to talk to Richards
besides that ur dream roster looks a lot like the roster we are putting out there anyways…..
ZETTERBURG (LW) – DATSYUK © – CLEARY (RW)
GAGNE (LW) – RICHARDS © – FRANZEN (RW)
BERTUZZI (LW) – ABDELKADER © – HOLMSTROM (RW)
MILLER (LW) – HELM © – EAVES (RW)
I don’t have a problem with your defense
this is of course IF we get rid of Hudler and Fippula and save close to the 6 million there taking up.
I'm not sure Gagne over Flip is an improvement considering his injury history the past couple seasons

very true
but if he stays on the ice he can still score 30 plus goals….and because of his injury history he will come cheap considering his production.

Ozzie would be most fitting.
