Video of the Night: Super-Jimmy
Because I'm too lazy to look, and because I can't find any other adequate videos of this particular game that highlight what I want to focus on, I instead pulled out the full highlights from NHL.com for this game against the Kings from two seasons ago. (1/7/10) So yes, the video does run a little long.
I remember watching this game and having my jaw in a perpetually dropped position throughout this game. I honestly thought the Kings were going to win this game because of how many quality scoring chances they had. Jimmy Howard quite literally got a king's ransom from this game, because he just absolutely stole a win for the Red Wings right out from under the Kings. He left Staples Center that night having made 51 saves while Dan Cleary and Darren Helm put pucks behind Jonathan Quick to seal a game the Kings had every opportunity to win but ultimately didn't. I very nearly got in trouble for watching this game because 1) I screamed like a maniac when Helm scored because everything about this game just seemed so surreal and 2) my mom is a Kings fan.

Jimmah is awesome! I remember my jaw on the floor then too.
OT: The video doesn’t quite fit right on the front page.
You're wrong Mick. That blob may have peanuts, but it ain't no Baby Ruth.
i tried to edit it
i made it thinner, but i don’t know how to get it to the left margin of the page. when i looked at the front page after the edit, the front page still didn’t have the whole video screen.
You wanna tell me that to mah face?!

Good Stuff
Just watching the highlights I had a feeling that LA was dominating and by rights SHOULD have won the game. But somehow the puck was not going in, thanks to Howard and loads of luck. There was lots of scrambling in there…
Might I suggest for the next Howard-themed Video of the Day/Night – Stoning the Sedin twins. This game sticks more in my mind just because of how huge the two saves were…and how Detroit won a tight defensive game against a highly potent offense 2-1 in a SO.
