KHL Plane Crash one of many sports-related plane crashes over the years

The Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash in which 43 people were killed (including Brad McCrimmon, Ruslan Salei, Igor Korelev, Pavol Demitra, and Alexander Karpotsev) is just one of several sports-related plane crashes over the years. And so without further delay, here are the other sports-related plane crashes:

Superga air disaster: May 4, 1949. A plane carrying members of the Toronto A.C. soccer team crashed into the hill of Superga near Torino, Italy, killing all 31 people onboard.

Sabena Flight 548: February 15, 1961. A plane crashed en route to Brussels, Belgium via New York City. All 73 people onboard (including members of the U.S. Figure Skating team) perished. As a result, the 1961 World Figure Skating Championships were cancelled.

Southern Airways Flight 932: November 14, 1970. A plane carrying the Marshall football team, coaches, and fans crashed near the Tri-State Airport in West Virginia. All 75 people onboard perished.

Also don't forget Thurman Munson of the Yankees

He died in a plane crash also (around Canton, Ohio – his hometown). Only difference is that he was the pilot.
