Quick Hits: Your Tears Taste So Sweet To Me
The Wings had a day off yesterday after their thrilling comeback win against the Blackhawks. That doesn't mean that there wasn't anything to talk about.
HOCKEYTOWN: NO LIMITS
KuklasKorner : The Malik Report : Red Wings evening news: halfway down, awards talk, a Sharp update and smart quips from Friedman - In true Malik fashion, he's got all the news of the day regarding the Wings. I'm not sure why I'm even bothering to link to anyone else. Just read him.
Highlighting the Highlights: GWG vs Some Amateurs | January - Still laughing at all the Hawk fans who were crying about the refs on Sunday night? NOHS has a great breakdown of what happened leading up to the GWG, including visual evidence that a certain team wearing red may also have had a few too many skaters on the ice. But Edzo wants you to ignore that.
Red Wings want faster starts, more road wins in second half of season | Detroit Free Press | freep.com - I want a million dollars and hair. Guess who will get what they want first.
Make no mistake: Wings have fury to match their finesse | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com - Grit and toughness are not just measured in fights and big hits. Teams can play physically all they want, but mental toughness is far more important.
On Hudler’s Slash & A Narrative — On the Wings - Saler (rightly) points out that the Chicago coaching staff, media and fans are all a bunch of babies and need to stop whining about the big bad Red Wings hurting their pwecious wittle Bwackhawks. There is no definitive proof to suggest it was Jiri Hudler who hurt Patrick Sharp, but don't let things like visual evidence get in the way of railing against a rival.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Canucks At Panthers Recap ; Letdown? (2-1L) - Nucks Misconduct - The Canucks fell to an Eastern team a couple of days after an intense battle with a bitter rival. Hopefully the Wings are paying attention.
Jackets Fire Head Coach Scott Arniel, Todd Richards Named Interim Coach - The Cannon - Good idea to fire the guy who was handed a pile of dog shit and told to make filet mignon.
Bruins’ Brad Marchand gets 5-game suspension for Salo hit; agree or disagree? | Puck Daddy - Yahoo! Sports - Agree. The guy is a punk who would be hustling kids on the street corner for their lunch money even though he's 34 if it weren't for hockey. Regardless, it was a dirty play and 5 games is appropriate.
Ryan Suter’s future in Nashville is getting murky | ProHockeyTalk - Maybe if they hadn't sunk 30% of their cap space into a goalie that may not be good in 2 years, they would be able to sign the better of their 2 top defensemen.

re: Hawk whines
any complaints of cheap shots by a team that employs Carcillo are null and void

That Suter article
is getting me all hot and bothered.
I hadn’t even thought about the fact that the trade deadline is approaching. The season seems to be going by so fast.
The WTF article of the day
Sam Kasan of the Penguins reported that both Neal and Craig Adams, the ace penalty killer who hurt his knee in practice earlier this week, both said they’re good to go for tonight’s tilt against the Ottawa Senators.
From Kasan, Coach Dan Bylsma relayed the following:
First test on Neal showed fracture. MRI showed pre-existing condition. Has bone bruise but can play. For Neal, with time it will get better. He felt relieved. Just bone bruise should heal as days go by
So he won’t miss any time at all compared to the 4-6 weeks the initial test showed. Well alrighty then.
Also the other game to watch tonight is Habs-Blues which marks the first time Halak has played in Montreal since he was traded. Should be entertaining.
The sun is blotted out as Joe Don Baker approaches.
