Random Stuart thoughts. . . .
I just read this article > http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/01/red_wings_defenseman_brad_stua_3.html
Just a random thought. . .what if the Wings traded him to a West Coast team? He could play there out the season and we could get something in return. I dunno. . . .currently being on a Stanley Cup contending team that's clicking well right now Ken Holland might not risk removing the skills and the role Stuart brings to the table. If a trade did happen I would think it would be for a player of equal value.

I can’t see any scenario in which Brad Stuart gets traded this year. There’s a real possibility he could sign out West as a free agent when the season is over, but he is vital to the Wings’ success in the playoffs.
ugh post fail.
I was going to say Doughty for Stuart, maybe Jack Johnson. But even then I don’t think they bring to this team what Stuart does. I want him to win the cup with us this year. No way we give him to someone on the West Coast that we might see in the playoffs anyways.
I totally agree with Graham.

How about
Anze Kopitar to the Wings for Stuart and some draft picks. Young Smith would have to grow up fast for the playoffs, but just think about the offensive firepower we would have! Yeah.. I know… never gonna happen.

I was thinking about that, but don't we have like 10000000 forwards
who pass the puck more than they should? I was watching him in a couple games that aren’t on too late and he would definitely fit our system. Maybe he could center Huds/Bert and Fil, freeing up Z to play with Pavs and Franzen. That would put Huds/Bert on the 3rd line which can only be a good thing. I don’t know how I feel about losing the defensive stalwart on the backend though.

Hey guys.
About Stuart. The Kings are chock full of defensemen. I know Lombardi is a defense addict, but I’d bet they’d be looking to trade one rather than add. There’s simply no need.
Maybe the Ducks would be a better trade partner? But it would be strange to ship him out when Detroit’s primed for yet another Cup run.

suggestions like that
might get you banned from the site…
If he’s lucky, all JJ will do is ban him.

In my defense, I HATE Corey Perry.
Probably as much as anyone around here. I was just curious what people were willing to give up for him.
Granted, my offer suggestion was based purely on the idea that we had no chance to retain Stuart. I really don’t know how you’d compare Perry’s value to Stuart’s, so it was more a question than a real suggestion.
No ban hammer please :(

Haha Don't worry
It’s an intriguing trade offer. It’s probably one I refuse for this season because of what it does to our defensive depth .
It’s DEFINITELY not ban-worthy though ;)

Well
I like Getzlaf more than I like Perry (which is to say still very, very little).
I think to earn the banhammer, we’re probably talking about somebody seriously suggesting a four team deal which trades off Datsyuk, Filppula, and Lidstrom to get back Barret Jackman, Corey Perry, and Steve Ott.

In the eyes of Blues fans, we’d be the greatest team ever assembled at that point

Without Backes?
No team without Backes could beat a team WITH Jesus Backes.

We’ve been talking about him for months now. One of two Ducks worth trading for

i would get used to Bobby Ryan much quicker than Corey Perry

Value wise*
What do you think Ryan is worth if we were to come out of left field and trade Stuart to Anaheim?

I wouldn’t say no to a Stuart, Eaves, prospect or pick for Ryan, Fowler trade. Not sure Anaheim would be willing to lose Fowler, but I know I’m not willing to trade Stuart without getting some defense back and Fowler is both cheap and has good upside.

Oddly enough, we’d still have roughly $5 million in cap space after that deal (per CapGeek’s trade machine)
