I've said it before many times that I would love to see Travis Moen as a Red Wing. I think he brings so much to the table that the team lacks. He's reminiscent of guys like Joey Kocur and Kirk Maltby when they were still at the top of their games. I think his size and pugnacity are great qualities, and he possesses the talent on top of that to notch the occasional important goal. He's not a goon, but he is a gritty player that could benefit the current roster. What do you think? Maybe we need a top-flight scoring guy more, but I think Moen could also be a very valuable asset for a playoff run.

What would you give up for a guy like Moen?

I’d be willing to part with a guy like Eaves, even I love him (but I’m not in love with him). I’m not sure what the Habs would want in return…maybe a roster player and a low pick.

May as well give them a roster player

since we’d have to waive one to make room for him anyway.

I’d offer Emmerton or Eaves. I’d hate myself for it, but I’d probably offer Miller too.

Of course, I think all three of these guys (maybe not Eaves) would have to include a draft pick as well.

That is a good point that no one seems to think about when speculating about trades. We can’t just give a prospect and picks. We’re losing a roster player no matter what we do here, so we may as well include them in the trade and get their full salary off the books.
