Oh Carcillo, what a douche. I’m surprised that he only got 7 games for that hit. I do like that Karma gave him a longer suspension though. He’s been banking that karma for years.

Also, now we don’t have to worry about him injuring a Wings player for the rest of this year. I like that.

My fantasy team will breath a sigh of relief when Weber is back playing. Having 2 d-men out with concussions and one with a stupid broken ankle is not good for the stats. Get well soon Weber.

I hear he is now cleared to play.

Ian White

Is my most surprising Wing. He has been phenomenal, of course playing next to hockey Jesus makes things easier. Regardless, he has been by far the best addition and playing far above his career level.

Great choice.

I never expected him to do that well either. He’s been pretty good and does he have good hockey sense or what? Sure, he has off nights, but the guy can move the puck well and knows how to shoot.

Val Fil

is my most surprising Wing. If it was last year…I wouldn’t have been surprised at all, as I thought that one would be his breakout…after so many years of telling him to shoot, I’m surprised he’s finally listening. He’s been awesome.

Now if only we could get Bertuzzi to actually take a shot once in a while…dude is always looking for the no-look backhand pass.

Bert is best when he uses his body and attacks the net. He still can and is effective as he is right now… it just doesn’t show on the score sheet like we expect. Guys have a real hard time with his size. If there is one thing that I would gripe about it’s his tendency to loaf around at times. He needs to drive and shoot… then let Franzen of Datsyuk knock in the trash. He and Franzen are hard to stop when they drive the net.

The misconception of Filppula's shooting more

He isn’t, he’s actually shooting slightly less. His shooting percentage is just really high.

This season through 38 games he took 59 shots, has 13 goals, for a shooting percentage of 22%.
Last season through 38 games he took 61 shots, had 9 goals, for a shooting percentage of 14.8%.

Good catch. I have him on my fantasy team and noticed that too. He’s not JUST shooting… he’s putting shots on net a ton better than last year. He’s positioning himself well and knocking in the rebounds when he can. So glad he’s doing better.

Most surprising?

In a good way: Filppula, Hudler, and Miller

In a bad way: Zetterberg, but that’s been improving as the season has gone on

the goaltending

i knew Howard would be solid. i never expected him to carry this team through its plethora of slow starts to games. as magnificent as this offense has been, Howard’s been the biggest reason for a large number of wins this season while the team in front of him takes its sweet time getting adjusted to games.

i expected Conklin to be solid, at least by backup standards. his job should have been to spell Howard so that he plays around 60-ish games and is fresh for the playoffs. regardless how Howard thinks he feels right now, i can’t imagine that he’ll be all there in the playoffs if he plays 70+ games (unless the Red Wings sweep the first round and Howard and the rest of the Red Wings get 11 days off). but Conklin’s inspired no confidence after his shutout against the Avalanche, and i really hope something is done so that Howard doesn’t have to play more than, say, 65 games.

You wanna tell me that to mah face?!

Howard has been nothing short of spetacular this season

with few exceptions. This surprised me. I pray he stays healthy.

To me it's undoubtedly Jimmah

Even with Flip’s “breakout” year and White’s solid play, I didn’t expect anything close to this from Howard. He is an elite goalie no matter how you look at it and is a legitimate candidate for the Vezina.

As for the Flyer’s story, what a fucking moron. To do a crime and then come out on Facebook bragging about it and saying good luck catching me? Dumbest asshole on earth. I highly doubt it was actually this guy who did it, but I sure as hell hope it was and he gets punished hard.
