On the good news front, both Dan Cleary and Jimmy Howard took practice reps today, and while neither will play tomorrow against the Predators, it sounds like Howard is going to be back in net Sunday against the Sharks. It seems kind of fitting that he will return on Hockey Day in America, what with him in the running to be the USA's starting goalie in the next Olympics. Buckets is still going to miss a couple of games, but did say he was feeling better after having his knee drained.
However, today also game with a little distressing news. Henrik Zetterberg didn't practice, and he is listed as day-to-day with a "lower body injury". Naturally, this could mean he's got a touch of that really slow-moving virus that has been making its way around the team, or he's dealing with a broken leg. We don't know the extent of the injury or what the cause, but Tomas Tatar has been called up to take his place on the roster.
The Wings' next 4 games are against the Predators, Sharks, Blackhawks and Canucks, all teams trying to keep pace with Detroit for positioning within the conference. We're all hopeful that Hank's injury is not serious, because the team will need his defense and he needs to maintain his offensive momentum he's built up the past 6 games.
