Abdelkader name origin (NOW with answer)
I graduated from MSU last year, with one of my majors in Geography. I have always had an interested in guessing heritage based on last name. While in hindsight I should have gotten Abdelkader's origin correct, I guessed wrong. Before I post the answer, I am leaving it up to WIIM community to take a stab at the answer. Please do not post if you know the answer, or have looked it up on Wikipedia (looking at you mikerlz). Go ahead and guess, I will post the answer in a few days.
ANSWER: The surname Abdelkader is Arabic. His paternal grandfather, Yusuf Abdul Qadir (Anglicised Joseph Abdelkader), emigrated from Jordan at the age of 19 to Muskegon, where he later met a Polish girl named Susie.

Wallis, Duchess of Windsor, previously Wallis Simpson (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 18961 – 24 April 1986), was an American socialite whose third husband, Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom and the Dominions, abdicated his throne to marry her.
Being the great grandson of Wallis Simpson would (likely) make him also the great grandson of Edward VIII of England.
… whose nickname was Edward the Abdicator.

Did you know...
That every time I try to say the word “Abdicate” it comes out “Abdelkader” then it takes me a couple time to get it to come out right. Meanwhile, the person (s) I’m talking to are just staring at me like I’ve lost my mind.

Yea, I was way off too
But once you figure out the answer, it fits perfectly. The K throws you off.
Well his name means servant of the powerful according my excessively expensive education in Arabic and Middle East studies, so I that narrows it down.
Based off his name, his light skin (though he could be and probably is mixed) and his phoenician nose… I would bet he is from the Levant, most likely Lebanon, since they are the Christian majority (he has a Christian first name as opposed to a Muslim one) and have the largest ex-pat population. This is also supported by the large Arab population in Michigan if he is from there. I assume he is because he played college there, but am not sure.
It's Flemish
and it means, “Man who is loved by many animals, and in turn, loves them too.” In Nepal, the name is “Kin-tan-tee.”
